aye what is the "day 1" shyt about?

is that a song?

Day 1 is in the "No new friends" song.

Drake is implying that people shouldn't add new friends to the core group of friends they already have.

Take 50 & G Unit for example, if 50 was to listen to Drake he wouldn't have no new friends outside of Yayo & Banks.

Song is hypocritical coming from Drake, nikka does a feature with damn near everyone and he's always seen hanging and Jay & Beyonce, I doubt they was messing with him when he was on degrassi :rudy:

Song would at least be more believable coming from Chief Keef or 50.

It's different when you're a celebrity. I can see Drake not wanting new friends because he's famous. nikkas need to stop taking everything rappers say to heart and trying to apply it to themselves because they're not living the same life.

When you make your first million, yeah, no new friends cuz they're prolly eyeing your pockets. But yall nikkas ain't shyt. :russ:

I understand the whole "no new friends phenomenom" I do agree that MFs over use the phrase. But I keep a tight circle of people I fux with that have been down for years. New people can come in your circle and fucc shyt up for you :manny:

Because people say it with the idea that they're making money and going places and usually when people come across things like that alot of new people come out of nowhere trying to be in their life. But for the most part the people yelling those phrases aren't doing anything groundbreaking in their lives.

Exactly, I kinda came around to liking Drake and his music, but I hate how effectively he and the camp around him does these 'call and response' records, appealing to people in a VERY broad sense, so they all think they who the songs about...lowest common denominator tracks like 'Out Here Grinding', oh, you're a waitress at 33, you're out here GRINDING, oh you're a 29 year old club promoter with no day job and no savings....'you're out here GRINDING' or 'ALL YOU DO IS WIN'

And the 'No New Friends' like dude said above, is the same shyt, giving a bunch of people the entitlement of 'I'm successful all these other people are losers', very transparent and thin, but people love to feel like they are someone special.
