peace, lets help each other build.

If you don't know how then you will fall on your face.

The Great Prophet Sean Camel Carter once stated " We don't believe you , you need more people!"

:francis: Truer words are rarely spoken :wow:

There are tactics. WTF? Do you think just because you have a great idea or really love your people that people will hop on board? ? :mjlol::mjlol:

Much of what I would say is in this thing... so I'm just gonna post it....

First, it is important that both the leadership and membership know and understand the organization.

Have a meeting to review and discuss your organizational goals and objectives. Are they still accurate? Is it time to update them? Where would the group like to be in six months? A year? During this "organizational housekeeping" process, a certain theme or direction should become clear. What types of people do you need to help the group succeed? Who would complement your current membership? Try to develop a member profile.

Now that you know the types of people you are interested in, your next step is to set some recruitment goals. How many new members can your organization reasonably assimilate into the group? Will you allow people to join at any time or only during a designated recruitment period? Will you hold a mass meeting or is membership by invitation only? When designing your recruitment strategy, keep in mind your member profile. What places do these prospective members most likely frequent? Do they have special interests? What kind of publicity would attract their attention? But most of all, try to think back to when you first became involved. What attracted you? How were you recruited? If you weren't, how did you hear about the group? Why have you stayed involved?

Recruitment campaigns need to have a visual element as well. Have those members with "artistic talents" work on your posters, flyers, banners, etc. Be creative. Your publicity can be effective only if it's noticed.

spend time getting to know your membership and let them get to know you too. Don't forget your old members since, without them, you wouldn't have had a group for your new members to join. Talk to all new members about their skills, interests and previous experiences. Once you have this information, it will be easy to get them involved in your group's projects. To be sure that their first organizational experience is a positive one, assign new members tasks that are well within their skill level and that they can successfully accomplish.

One thing I learned in organizing is most groups love to talk talk talk and plan. But rarely move that talking into action because people just want to be the "smartest" nikka in the room. I would say the most important thing in an organization is a leadership team that is well rounded and not afraid to delegate. Plans without delegation are pointless. And I've been in groups with both good teams and bad teams.

Edit: And I'm not a fan of social media for organizing. It doesn't accomplish much. For marketing, maybe. Depends on how it is used.

For a positive you have to offer people something to entice them. Even if it's free pizza or food. People are more likely to show up in PERSON. And I always felt that was the most important part to any organizing. Getting people to meet, touch hands and have conversations. I think the social element and social building is not highlighted enough. The human nature is big when setting up an organization and making people feel needed. In my successful organizations having matching t shirts went A LONG way for building camaraderie and making people feel apart of something.

I haven't been involved in any organizing in at least two years though.

way to control that.... you start cutting that person out behind the scenes a little bit... just to show them how things can move without him. Not to just diss him, because he may be your boy or part of your org... But just to humble him.

I'm a ruthless ass nikka so I COMPLETELY cut nikkas off at the legs if they start to think they are bigger than the collective. I am a low key demon, so i wouldn't recommend that .

anyway, you're on point about delegation--- its awesome. I have a boy with the money and the plans... but is going in fukking circles because he is trying to do shyt himself. I try to preach to everyone about delegation. Mainly because ---------- when someone is giving a huge task or project or a part to do they feel involved and the OWN that shyt.. they do better work. If you don't delegate you end up doing the shyt on your own and a few people do all the work and everyone gets the credit.

idk about it either.

I think like most orgs, they all need someone who is fine being the bad guy. I am a female, but I have no problem telling a nikka to shut the fukk up or delegating shyt that needs to get done. I actually love that shyt. Too see plans being put to action and shyt moving along to success is just so :ahh:. I just don't care if you like me as long as we get what needs to be done done. That doesn't mean I'm mean but I understand emotions vs progress.

And without delegating and having help I don't truly think you can develop as a leader. A good leader knows their strengths and weaknesses. Like I know I can delegate and foresee the big picture but I can give a fukk about people's feeling when it comes to a project lol. That's my weakness. So I know I need people around me that can tell me to chill or have better means of communicating. I'm just too damn straightforward for most people. :yeshrug:.

Anyways, it's cliche, but teamwork makes the dream work. Anyone successful built a good team.

that cost money.

people don't have money..

So I would say make it mutually beneficial... Offer something and charge something like 5 bucks to go to educational event... People don't care about dropping 5 bucks because they equate that with Free Event. if it only cost you 150 bucks to put the shyt on and you have about 150 people there you made a 5-600 dollar profit
