Tinashe has never switch her style up, her style gives her diversity to go different directions. Do yall not expect a radio single to sound like radio single?

Honestly twigs music is like anti radio much like Sza stuff is just anti radio, Some of it's cool but she's not for me. Yall basic criticizing Tinashe for being more diverse, she's not trying to be stuck in just the alt R&B lane.

imo Tinashe is going to be like a female Miguel how she can switch in and out of alternative. Unlike The weeknd who has a hard time because his stuff is too alternative..

Also a lot of these alternative R&B artists are generally influence by older artist for instance...

Older R&B had a lot of Reverb in the early 90's and 80's, and this song is very ambient... The Weeknd's The zone clearly use this style, R&B artist isn't getting it from The Weeknd but older R&B itself.



Notice how Janet is able to completely switch it up, if Janet can do this why can't Tinashe?

well ou make a compelling argument I really feel like her older material was better and that she discarded it to try to get on. Theirs people who make music to truly say what they feel and people that make it to blow, i think tinashe is in the latter. not that its any problem with that. My only problem is the fans who fawn over her like she is the second coming. Twigs is really really good, but I wouldn't say shes dropped the best anything of the past ten years. nikkas were up in here like Tinashe is dropping classic material ALREADY. Now she I'm a music head, and pretty much have an encyclopedic documentation of the genres she was surfing early and that just sit well with me. Call me childish if you must. Plus I just like to debate naturally i think shyt like cocteau twins is more stylistically in tune with the weeknd than 80s rnb other than the lyrical content, but thats just me and I'm not going to harp on that too much.

I respect how concise you are about the whole thing though unlike others though. I think Tinashe is alright, probably wont drop anything groundbreaking but for her lane she'll probably drop stuff better than most. Its just that when I see her get so much shine on here for a sound that fka twigs is doing much much much better I'm going to comment to see if its really all about the music or the image she portrays, since i think nikkas like her aesthetics more than anything. going through this thread before I offered a differing opinion was 90 over here and 10 music, seriously. I hope she blows to the point she can make w/e she wants cuz as it stands now this new style she running with is literally as cookie cutter as possible and I'm not a fan of selling out like that. At this point in music you don't even need the radio or to pander ot them to eat. YOu can put out a ill project, tour, and make more than just being on the radio (unless its a huge hit) so staying true to your music if thats really your sound is more feasible than ever.

I don't want to see this chick fail and shes def not garbage like a lot of the shyt out now, but I'm simply playing devils advocate (and getting my stan on ) and offering a differing opinion. You seem like chill people I wouldn't mind continuing this convo.

thats per much my thing though, as far as alt rnb goes shes actually fairly good since most of them are really wakc tbh. like people bring up sza and shyt, she aint nice iwth it.
