My question is what kind of bushes were they, Arborvitae-sunkists, alpine currants ? I would image they were some sort of thick, dense bush because if it were something like a rose bush, it would be concealing much. Maybe a prickly bush to deter people from sticking their hand in and retrieving any items ? IDK

Scientifically speaking tgrowing them in the bushes would likely cause a deflection of the item since the weight of the gun would not allow it to slide through a bush and could cause a misfiring and would not be an effective way of a retrieving disposal as the locale wouldnt be,exavt and the attention drawn could invite usurping entrepreneur s seeking to upgrade their security system

Now if we look at the ancient,nawlins,antgropologically speaking they would have likely wiped finger prints wifh a light cotton based cloth tgen wrapped it in a similar clandestine cloak and gently and secretely laid it in a busb for future retrieval and usage
