You’re probably right, certainly about the risk vs reward. But it’s a crustacean, it’s in a protective shell. And that wasn’t exactly a slop bucket, looked relatively empty.
As someone who hates waste, I’d have no qualms about salvaging that and give a quick re-steaming or parboil, but I know the restaurant can’t operate the same way (legally or in code or whatever)

Idk why people treat buffets like competitions

Eat all you can, you don’t have to start with two full plates man. I just get a lil bit of like 4 dishes to try first, then I go back and get bigger portions of what I liked. And repeat till I’m full
