You can cop for $599 on release day from ATT. Unlocked via ebay will cost your much more, like 700-800. You can wait a few months and cop it for 500 or so.

Idk. Samsungs don't really seem too durable. I had a Samsung phone that fell from my bed to the floor (carpet), and the screen cracked. Probably about a 6 inch fall. And they even FEEL cheaply made.
Meanwhile my friend has this HTC phone that's been through it all and still going. And my G1 was probably the most durable phone I've ever owned.
I'd say HTC > Motorola > Samsung in terms of durable phones.
I've seen WAAAAAAAAAAY more broken/cracked/damaged iphones than any other phone. I swear everyday on campus I see tons of iphones with cracked screens. This one dudes shyt was so fukking cracked I have no idea how he could read anything on the screen 
Well the iPhone does have a glass screen.

The phone was released 4 month ago. It's a fukking flagship device. Still on Android 4.0.4 with 4.1.1 coming "soon" while 4.1.2 is already released.
I don't play this fukking games.
This is why I do not trust Samsung when it comes to updating their phones.
They are never on time with it,
or the update never sees the light of day.
Learned my lesson with the Samsung Epic.
