"Your consolation prize is dikk!"

:russ:

Low key the extreme faction of the house GOP has through their uncompromising irrationality destroyed what got them the house in the first place....

Voter Apathy during midterm elections.

Most voters think Obamacare and ACA are two seperate entities.... their will be voter apathy in 2014 just like their is in every off year election

:russ:There was enough liberal representatives in 2010 to ram a single payer system through but the insurance lobby got up in that ass:shaq:

Despite the recent surge of support in the Senate for a government-run health insurance option, President Obama chose not to include one of the most popular elements of reform in the plan he is presenting to a bipartisan group of lawmakers Thursday.

The Obama plan explicitly bridges the differences between Senate and House legislation on issues both large and small, but on the public option -- which is included in the House bill, but not in the Senate's -- Obama is entirely silent.

Last week, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow that Obama would "absolutely" fight for a public option if Senate leadership decided to go for it. "f it's part of the decision of leadership to move forward, absolutely," Sebelius said. "The president said from the outset he thought that was a great way to provide cost reduction and competition moving forward, but if that is not the choice of the majority moving forward, I think there are other ways to get there."

Since then, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he would work with his colleagues to find the votes needed for it; Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the third ranking Democrat, pushed for it to be included; and Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.), chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, joined in the call as well.

But neither that nor the public option's consistently strong appeal in public-opinion polls was enough to persuade Obama to get behind it.

Glenn Greenwald, from February 2010:

As I wrote back in August, the evidence was clear that while the President was publicly claiming that he supported the public option, the White House, in private, was doing everything possible to ensure its exclusion from the final bill (in order not to alienate the health insurance industry by providing competition for it). Yesterday, Obama — while having his aides signal that they would use reconciliation if necessary — finally unveiled his first-ever health care plan as President, and guess what it did not include? The public option, which he spent all year insisting that he favored oh-so-much but sadly could not get enacted: Gosh, I really want the public option, but we just don’t have 60 votes for it; what can I do?. As I documented inmy contribution to the NYT forum yesterday, now that there’s a 50-vote mechanism to pass it, his own proposed bill suddenly excludes it.

You mean Democratic representatives, and you're right some of those guys are tied to the insurance lobby shyt was disgusting to watch first hand. That's another thing, I know you're no progressive, but people keep harping on taking over in 2014 but if you do the same thing with electing those blue dogs then you'll get the same result. Will probably get the jobs act though. Lieberman, Nelson, etc. pretty much doomed it in the Senate

liberal does not equal democrat.

It doesnt matter, they had the votes as @Type Username Here has posted, but your lord and savior Obama just was not behind it as well as even some very liberal leaning dems.. A true leftist would have voted against obamacare...big business (insurance) won out and they will continue to do so (bank bailouts, military industrial complex, prison industrial complex) until their is a legit third party that is serious in challenging the system...Ross Perot in '92 was our last hope.. him speaking out on NAFTA and the deficit were bold at the time and to me was the last time this country really had a chance at true change... which is why since then democrips and rebloodlicans have created rules and laws to shut out the third parties from national exposure

Friend, you should create a thread called "Who really killed the public option in 2010?"

We can drop some facts in there. No need to divert this thread from its original meaning.

A lot of them will vote no to keep their job, but everything will pass tonight.

The Wall Street bosses already tightened the leashes. Can't fukk with their precious credit ratings, not while the markets and corporate profits are at an all time high.

Yup. Ted Cruz bosses had a talk with him. Corporate America and the GOP built this Frankenstein's monster of nativist neo-dixiecrat teabaggers that got too big for their britches and started fukking with their money out of sheer ignorance, recklessness, and stubbornness. These gerrymandered district House Repubs don't even know shyt about economics. They're just mostly local business pillars in small towns no one gives a fukk about.
