They have nothing to lose by holding out.:manny:

On a side note, why is it never suggested that the Dems give in? :wtf:

Because you don't give in when you are being held hostage, or the next time republicans will ask for more because they are SO sure that democrats will be safe bullied victim and not allow the US to be damaged economically.. Imagine a Republican president being held hostage by Hardcore leftist until they raise taxes above 60% for the wealthy or they ask for specific funds to address minority poverty. Republicans wouldn't agree to that either and we would keep doing this dance forever. This shyt has to stop.

It'll be interesting to see how far that principle goes.
Do you stick by your gunz for a year and let the people starve, or give in?:ohhh:

100% this. If you give in they know they can just extort your pockets for more later. The GOP is just angry that they lost the battle on the Affordable Health Care Act and they just can't accept that they lost. They should just take their ball and go home. You can't lose a basketball game and threaten to burn down the stadium if they don't change the score or give you a do-over.

The GOP will give in 1st. The majority of the nation blames them for the govt shutdown. Obama's press conference today only further reinforced that the GOP is to blame for this. The GOP is looking worse and worse with each passing day.

Agreed... but if they dont, does the non-negotiating principle hold true indefinitely. Do the Dems starve out the poor they are fighting to help?

He answered today why that's not a good idea. I just don't think that they'll let us go over the ceiling. They just won't. I didn't come across anyone THAT stupid when I was in DC.

"Even among conservatives, 59 percent disapprove of the way the Republicans in Congress are handling the situation, including nearly half of “very” conservatives (47 percent), rising to 68 percent of “somewhat” conservatives. Nearly three-quarters of moderates disapprove as well."

To answer your question, it looks like the Dems will hold out, as they should. The way you phrase the question makes it seem like there is some idea that the Dems are the only ones that can choose to stop this. The Dems aren't starving out anyone. They're holding strong against not the Republican Party, but a fringe group of reckless human beings within the Republican Party that are willing to let the economy crash and burn on 10/17 if they don't get their way. You don't negotiate with crazy people. Also, most of the poor people being starved out as you put it are seeing the Right as the problem on this issue. Check the PDF I attached.

“It’s pretty clear that the president was reelected. Obamacare is the law of the land. If we were to put Obamacare into the Continuing Resolution and send it over to the Senate, we were risking shutting down the government. That is not our goal.” John Boehner

If cons want to change obamacare win a fukking election.

Its telling that Boehner doesnt want bring it Back to a vote. He knows the budget will pass. What fukking clowns the Republicans would be if they let the nation default.

These republicans can barely see 3 feet in front from them, how can you explain that using a government shutdown and defaulting on the debt are suicidal political tactics? I never seen such ignorance or stubbornness to surrender to reality. The law passed. Why this stance of lunacy?

How is this affecting you as a contractor? I'm a govt contractor and we are still working and getting paid.

-DMP-

I have not been at work since the shutdown. 2 people from my web development out of like 13 were called back since I work at a Military Hospital(you cant shut down a hospital completely) and were told to fix shyt that went haywire since most people were not working. My contract though awarded... was funded with fiscal year 2014 money(we just renewed). Since this occurred, I had to go home.
