listen..lets keep is a buck...if the original fresh prince of bel air showed today a good amount of characters would be labeled as c00ns (Carlton and Hilary especially). Im also going to assume that people would've had a issue with Will (not "hood" enough, why he gotta be from the hood, why move him to a white neighborhood, etc)..replacing aunt viv with the lightskin aunt viv would've been a issue as well

There are other things but I wont go into it. This is a new show and idk why people have a hard time accepting that.

People hated the remake when it got announced, then they disliked it because they changed the format from the original show, now that its out there are other complaints.

No one will ever be 100% happy with a show but I don't know why people can't accept this show for what it presents instead of knocking it because it doesn't fit their opinion of what the show should be

And no they don't always turn black families on TV into a dysfunctional one. If one wanted to they can find dysfunction in any family on tv..from my wife and kids, to blackish, to "The Neighborhood"....families have issues...it is what it is

It's a reboot/remake, it's not even a sitcom comedy like the original and multiple characters look vastly different than they did on the original. Either watch the new shyt or keep it moving. Comparing it to the original repeatedly when it's clear it's not trying to be that show is just dumb at this point

Its a drama. These characters cant be some stale shyt. They have to have problems like the rest of us.

Now if you are concerned about potential stereotypical tropes. Then you have a point.

but sans race, these characters reflect real life. Not a lawyer who has a butler and switches wives mid series.

And the show covering topics like Lupus, the unity amongst black families, yadda yadda etc. etc

Just seeing a beautiful black family where nobody lives in poverty, nobody is killing or selling weight or being gangstas should be merit enough to give the show a chance
