It's like...damn. I'm almost 30. Still riding this skateboard. Still riding what's considered a kids toy. Still out there riding these streets and throwing it down. Most of my friends at this point who were in it coming up with me when I was younger are just out of the game now and turned into more members of the "i used to skate" crowd. Yet, I still do this...why?

I remember when my mom bought me my first skateboard when I was 5 years old in 1989. It was a yellow banana board. To this day, I credit that as the moment my life changed for the better, cause every year I would always have a new skateboard and still learning tricks. I will admit, it kept me out of trouble, it gave me a sense of identity, it changed the way I thought, walked, and talked. It made me friends and associates. It helped me to stay in shape. It still does. One of my favorite things to do is to just skate all around NYC..from Brooklyn over the Williamsburg Bridge over to the LES Skatepark under the Manhattan bridge. I think of all the skate videos I watched over the years and it's crazy to actually be in the place where most of those moments took place. Seeing the diversity of the people there, the different styles, the meshing of young and old. It keeps me going.

Some dudes like Basketball, some dudes like Football, I've always been about skateboarding. It's not just about the sport, or the art, or the culture, or the fashion, it's about that feeling of riding your skateboard and blowing shyt up.

I still do this cause I love it. And I definetely can see myself doing this for another 25...lol.

props i use to ride bmx bikes before nikkaz even got into bike like that. stopped a few yrs ago

I used to ride BMX too when I was younger.
Also, I did inline for a bit.

Weird story but true: The first thing I tried to learn to ride was a bike when I was a wee lad. I sucked at it.
Then I picked up a pair of rollerblades...and started learning how to balance and move on those.
Next thing after that...I picked up the bike again and mastered it.

:flabbynsick:and proud b.

Shieet...I actually went out skating today and was...killing it!

I'm in good f*cking shape...my hairline's been in the same place it was since I was five. No bald spots. But then again, what's it to y'all really?

I stay true to myself.

Some of y'all have very unrealistic views of age and in regards to the world around you. and therefore you let others dictate what you should be doing directly or indirectly. And that's not staying true to yourself. That's not keeping it real. That's keepin it fake as f*ck (this is directed at no one in particular).

You know how many times I've fallen and got up?
You know how many times I've failed than suceeded?
Y'all will never know.
Y'all will never know me like that other than me sharing my words with y'all. So keep on thinking these things if it makes you feel better about what you perceive to be "popular opinion" simply because you have a low opinion of whatever. It don't mean shyt to me.

I didn't bust my ass in the gym, with kickboxing, with yoga even...for damn near 2 years to be weak.
I didn't continue my education, educate myself, and graduate college to be an idiot and taken advantage of.
Long story short...I didn't get to almost 30 (in August!) by being a bytch. By being untrue to myself. By being fake. By being unreal. And I don't have to validate myself in the eyes of those that will never interact with me.

This is why I have strength. This is why I have wisdom. This is why I don't buck down for nobody.

So...I'll keep on doing my thing. If you don't like it..I don't care. I don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.:smugdraper:
