:ohhh: I never knew about that part of the story.

Yeah, Spielberg was the one who originally brought the project to Landis as they were pretty much engaged in a friendly rivalry. However, during the trial Landis' original attorney tried to shift some of the blame to Spielberg, and even though Landis always maintained that Spielberg played no role whatsoever in the incident, Spielberg always held it against Landis that he didn't admit to the facts.

i'm not clicking on that video...awful just awful

around 2 years ago I was in an independent movie and the director didn't get the permit to allow us to film using fake guns so as we're shooting the scene in which another actor is holding me at gun point and i'm i'm surrounded by other actors for a roughing up scene an undercover cop comes out of a taxi with a real fukking gun drawn about to murk the dude who has me held up with a fake gun...

that rattled the shyt out of everybody and could have easily gone bad if they didn't see the lighting and cameras

At Vic Morrow's funeral, Landis got up, visibly drugged up, and gave a eulogy that was basically an advertisement for the movie. It's crazy that his career never really took a hit after all this. He was getting blackballed but there were stars willing to work with him and that proved to be enough.
