I said ATMOSPHERE. The card wasn't filled with great matches but everything just worked. The entire weekend just felt big and important. The HOF ceremony felt like a huge deal that year. It was also the first Mania to be broadcast on the Network. It had the historic moment at the start with Austin, Rock and Hogan, the great opening Bryan match, the shock of the streak ending and then the Bryan culmination at the end. Wrestlemania is about moments more than anything.

There was so much hope for the future of WWE at that point. Network starting, Bryan as champ, Brock as this enw super monster, Shield face turn, Evolution reuniting... Didn't turn out like we hoped.

Well, we have two totally different opinions on the point of wrestling then. There is nothing wrong with predictability in wrestling as long as the stories are being told the right way.

Everyone knew Austin was winning the title at Mania 14 but that didn't ruin anyone's perception of the event because a satisfying story was being told.

Yeah... unpredictability is a great thing, but it's also overrated to a degree... everything doesnt have to be a surprise, it just has to be good.

Like your example about Austin... everybody knew damn well he was winning the Rumble, and everybody knew damn well he was winning the title at Mania... but we still wanted to SEE it.

Matter fact, that's MOST Mania buildups... at least as far as the main events go, you can go way back... knew Hogan was gonna beat Savage, knew Warrior was gonna beat Hogan, knew America was gonna triumph over the evil Iraqi sympathizer, knew the boyhood dream was gonna come true, knew Austin was gonna be the new man on top, knew Austin was gonna reclaim his spot despite McMahon and the Corporation, etc, etc, etc...shyt, the one time they did shock everybody, everybody hated it cause they were sure it was Rock's time to win the title again and they had HHH go over in a screwjob finish.

Wm X slander. Was There live as a kid and loved it.

Had fun with washed up Leilani Kai, Earthquake vs Adam Bomb squash match, Men on a Mission, Doink and Dink, eh?

Everything that's not Bret vs Owen, Razor vs Michaels, or Bret's title win was trash, breh.

Match card is alright.
Build up is trash. (Final week and 2 matches have yet to be confirmed...)

And on top of that, every match is predictable as well. I firmly believe Nakamura will win and they'll ship AJ over to raw as well.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Roman/Brock, AJ/Nak, Charlotte/Asuka could all be legit brilliant matches.

The Bryan match could be great too....you've got 3 great workers in there, but even if it's not a great match, Bryan coming back is a huge moment anyway.

Ronda's involvement is just classic Mania sports entertainment fukkery. I'm looking forward to it.

Hard to tell with the undercard matches, as we just don't know how much time they'll get, but there's potential there.

On paper it looks better than the last couple.

If it's as good as 31, I'll be satisfied. That's an underrated Mania, and I personally prefer it to 30.
