Beat was always dope!

I remember Rakim freestyled over it live on Video Music Box. Golden era sh*t.

But Lenny Kravitz ran off with the loop that The Bomb Squad used first for PE, but they all lifted it from the Jackie Robinson break. Dudes would argue over looping breaks and totally forget that they're all using sh*t from older artists from back in the day, lol.

All Facts and especially the bolded!

Stolen or not, this is why people like Puff do actually have a skill :dame::whoa:

Bc on Madonnas version that earthy lil melody over top the beat is what makes it special. :manny:

Nggas really the gassin that PE beat it’s boring af. You place that in any era it’s gettin jacked and fixed up. Put it in the 90s Puff would lace it. Early 2000s Kanye would add some Jon Brion keys to it, etc

you're wrong, no one is mad at him for using the sample. A lot of different artists used the same samples back in the day. HE LIFTED IT OFF OF THEIR ALBUM!!! Took it straight from Nation of Millions. The original sample isn't even the same and I'm sure Kravitz didn't even know what the original sample was. It's just like the Showbiz & AG beef with Lords of the Underground. K-Def ripped the sample right from the end of the Show & AG song knowing goddamn well he didn't get it from the source or even knew what the sample was. LOTUG got caught up in the crossfire. Same situation here. So Lenny didn't lift shyt from the original Jackie Robinson break, he got that straight from the PE record. The same thing happened to Stezo. Once he used the Skull Snaps break, everyone was using his record for the break as he discussed in interviews.

You clearly didn't understand the post.

The point isn't where Lenny got it from. Hank chopped the break. But it's still Jackie's sh*t. The point is, it's like Guru said after this, "You can't own no loops". Dudes were beefing over lifts when none of them played anything live. The source is the source. People did the same with Tribe. Tip said they would take the Junior Mance drums and sample it straight from the Tribe album. But he said how can he be mad when he got them from Junior. The same sh*t was happening for years in Hip Hop.
