This theory just changed the way I look at the SW prequels forever :ohhh

Prequels were a let down. Good action scenes but the Jedi Council were so stupid and usesless. Mace and Yoda (2 of the most powerful Jedi) were in Sidious' presence several times before the betrayal and they couldn't detect he was a force user/Sith?

Jedi turn into jobbers as soon as Order 66 is called in?

Anakin's dumb reason for turning and not getting to see him put in work and kill Jedi in his Vader armor.

yeah they missed a MAJOR opportunity here.

I guess there wasn't any way to pull it off because of how lumbering and slow he seemed as compared to the other Jedi feats.

:heh: even in the video games, watching Vader turn into super speed ninja looks corny as hell because of his armor design.

why does obiwan feel so much guilt for though?:francis:

anakin was just a delusional psychopath, why so much remorse for what happened?

how exactly did he "fail" anakin?:francis:

like come on bruh you know what you did:francis:
He took over training Anakin when Qui-Gon(Obi's master) died whom the Jedi Council had reserve for since he was too old and his future was clouded. He was trying to guide Anakin to be the chosen one path that Qui-Gon saw, but he couldn't and somewhat takes responsibility for it because he had Anakin under his tutelage for nearly 13 years.

The vision was clouded but Yoda didn't have a good feeling about Palpatine since Episode 2 and in turn the Jedi Council starts to become suspicious of him but not thinking he was the actual Sith lord. I think Yoda was the only one to have actually been in direct contact with a Sith prior to Episode 1.

By the time Order 66 happened, the Jedi been spread thin and took a number of hits throughout the Clone Wars. Plus the were outnumbered and caught by surprise. Almost reminds me of how Bane defeated Batman in Knightfall.

Yeah, I would have enjoyed that way more. Especially if it was one of those things that was implied but never confirmed. That way you can still have the whole "Luke.....I am your father....." scene.

right but in the context of the movie, obiwan doesn't really do anything wrong. anakin believes he is jealous of him but we, the audience, never see any indication of that. as far as the narrative is concerned, obiwan is squeaky clean and anakin is just a creepy a$$hole who made a stir out of nothing.

if it were revealed throughout the films that obiwan had feelings for padme, it would have added another dimension to anakin's conflict and also would have given him greater cause for mistrust.

but as it stands, obiwan is an idiot if he feels responsible for anakin. he only chose to train him as a favor for his dying mentor and was nothing but a positive example for anakin to follow.

this subplot, should you choose to go along with it, adds a much needed human element to the whole thing.

I guess it's up to you to decide :yeshrug:

Well just going by what's on film Obi is constantly scolding Anakin even in front of Padme. Anakin sees that as Obi holding him back even tho his ceiling is potentially higher than the Jedi Council even Yoda.
I don't see any indentation of a love triangle on film or in the EU.
