Cam Newton’s sexist comment to Observer reporter wasn’t one bit funny
After the news conference, Rodrigue wanted to find Newton and talk about what he said. She did catch up with him briefly. The conversation, according to Rodrigue, was not taped but went something like this:

She asked the quarterback if he really didn’t think a female could understand routes.

Newton said she wasn’t really seeing specific routes when watching the game, she was just seeing if somebody was open. She argued that he didn’t know what she saw nor how hard she had studied football, and that maybe the two of them needed to have a deeper conversation.

Newton said that maybe he should have said it was funny to hear “reporters” talk about routes and that, if she actually did know about them, then she knew more than most reporters. Then he gestured toward the locker room, still filled with her colleagues.

Rodrigue ended by asking Newton – whom she had introduced herself to on the first day of her employment with The Observer in October 2016 – if he knew her name after she had covered the team almost every day for the past year.

Newton said he did not.

“Jourdan Rodrigue, Charlotte Observer,” she said, and then walked away.

Seemed she was mad "He made it worse" quote was because he didn't remember her name.

Bad comment from Cam...but I'm sort of thinking this is a whole lot of nothing. Breh just misspoke. Reminds me of how the media was attacking Jameis in the spring. Dumb comment, but not meant to offend.

He deserves criticism, but this is about to go overboard.

We've all accepted here that Cam says awkward / stupid shyt during interviews, that's why the less he talks, the better. The longer he talks it's a matter of time he's going to put his foot in his mouth. You'd think he'd know by now anything questionable he says is going to get him in hot water

But it's still funny that more people are angry with Cam wondering if a woman knows a 9-route than the President playing Pop-A-Shot at hurricane victims with off-brand paper towels :mjlol:

Blond white girl means that shyt will be overlooked and she’ll be on Good Morning America Friday to speak for women everywhere.

Yes?

Seems very clear to me.

Ehhh...

"Physicality of his routes" and the "fight for those extra yards" is just off.

She probably had two thoughts going on at the same time and merged them. Cause "Physicality of his routes" would make sense if she means he's just being more physical at the line of scrimmage. Just physicality makes sense if she meant him going up to get the football. However, saying physicality routes and truck sticking people....just sounded odd. She just misspoke so I assume she meant no harm. Cam tried to make light of it/dig at reporters and misspoke himself. Ended causing way more controversy than he intended.

From what I saw she didn't "say" anything racist. She laughed at one of those parody accounts.

Her out is that she didn't say anything racist. Just put a funny emoji at something a parody account said.

I can't remember the exact tweet as it got deleted with the quickness. It was from a few years ago and she was quoting/replying to it with a laugh.

She also said something about Native Americans and finding racist jokes in general funny. But you're right that is going to be the go to defence, along with but that was years ago :mjpls:

Yeah but that’s what’s irritating about the culture we live in these days as people just seem to pick and choose what to get riled up about...

In all honesty as a professional you shouldn’t associate your public account with dumb shyt like that even if you think it’s funny because what news organization wants to answer questions about why it’s suddenly victimized reporter is retweeting racial epithets?
