The story keeps being told that Jay didn't want 50 as a co-headliner, and Eminem threatened to not do it if 50 couldn't be there. 50 was never supposed to be a co-headliner, he was a guest. Almost everybody that performs at the show has guests. Beyonce had Destiny's Child, Madonna had Nicki Minaj, Usher had Alicia Keys, Katy had Missy Elliott. There's a difference between the people who get asked to headline the show (Dre and friends) and the people who perform as surprise guests (50, Anderson .Paak).

I don't know why "Eminem wanted 50 as a guest" turned into "Jay-Z kept 50 from being a co-headliner."

50 confirmed it himself that Jay didnt want him there and Em said what he said.
