or did he tell you to leave it up to god and to keep it pushing

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
"Judging' doesn't mean not to rebuke and call out evil. It means that we don't have the right to render a verdict on someone such as saying we need to stone or kill them. John the Baptist got killed for rebuking the actions of Herod and Jesus got killed rebuking and calling out the actions of the Pharisees and Sadduccees.
The problem with a lot of modern Christianity is that whole 'don't judge' verse is taken out of context and it creates incredibly passive, lukewarm Christians that allow evil to flourish.
