I'm not gonna lie, Matthysse would be a tough fight (that we would still win) due to his power and the fact AB has tendencies to just stand against the ropes taking punches and not throwing back n/h

This was a damn good match up

Just because you weren't aware of who Taylor was doesn't mean this wasn't a good match up

The reality of it is, he just got to a new weight class at 140, & they are slowly increasing his opposition. They let him have a gimme against Molina. This was a fight to really see exactly where he is at in this division. He very well could have lost this fight. He definitely still needs to develop.

The problem with Broner is he's so popular that they tried to fast track this guy when he should have still been developing.

I even gave Taylor credit. He gave him a good fight, he could have won but his dumb ass trainer didn't tell him to keep pressing on him like Maidana did, don't give him no room to counter, that's what he's good at. It's a close fight and good fight.

yea he should have went to 140 in the first place, instead of going to 147.

True. Can't throw the guy back in with lions after he gets beat up against Maidana. He needed to rebuild his confidence. I missed the fight tonight guys, how did he look?

referee ron lipton used to post on boxing message boards and said pomoters used to come by before fights and tell him they want the fight stopped at the first sign in favor of their fighter. he said he had to get out of the referee business because he couldnt handle how crooked it is. notice when he reffed for roy jones vs bryant brannon he gave brannon every chance to come back resulting in that iconic moment of roy taking a step back and asking lipton to stop the fight right before dropping brannon visciously ending the fight legitimately. thats one of the only refs out there that wasnt bought. all these refs are bought and paid for. any time you see a guy beat a ten count and still get stopped by the referee, thats a referee that had a promoter stop by before the fight and give him a little talk. these early stoppages not only do they rob the fans they rob the fighter who is fighting to make a living build up his name and feed him and his family. with that said, that body shot matthysse hit him with, is solidifying in my mind that matthysse has got to be one of the sneakiest punchers of all time. some of these knock downs and knock outs matthysse has it just looks like a guy poking all kinds of little holes in these fighters. one weakness matthysse has is that he is a little more technically minded than his record suggests and just like a technician if he gets in the ring with a guy thats more of a pure boxer he can end up playing catch up all night. thats what got him in some problems against danny garcia. so with that said broner matches up against matthysse a little better than he matched up with maidana.

@Newzz

How was #BandCamp this night? :lupe:

He looked kinda up and down in this bout. Some times he looked amazing and others (when he would stop throwing and just lean against the ropes) he looked like he would never reach his potential.

overall good fight card tonight, a few quick thoughts:

berto looked ok i guess- but he is still too easy to hit and still got a bad habit of stepping straight back leaving his chin exposed. i don't really see where virgil is improving anything in berto's fight game. he just looked a dude who fought a dude who he knew didn't have the power to beat him. i'll give him a pass cause it was a tuneup, but we'll see next fight of his.

lol at ortiz- i understand the shot hurt but if you wanted to continue, on the count of 8, you need to get up. that looked just like zab vs amir khan. nikkas want breaks in the fight and ain't even complete a round yet. still i think the ref shoulda let him live cause it was so early. who really tries to wait until 9 to get up? lol too funny all around, he was about to hop up at 8, then he tried to chill another second. belt gone smh

broner did what he had to do to win- but he's setting himself for more disappointment- he still not correcting flaws that should adjusted such as not letting his hands go when the opportunity presents itself or learning to fight on the back foot when pressure. still too easy to hit, cause he doesn't move his head enough. broner is just a dude who as soon as he doesn't respect your power just stands in the pocket and starts loading up on power shots. if taylor had more power, i think he woulda beat him. he punches in spurts, and if you not gonna move thats the wrong recipe vs matthysse. i think broner might need a new trainer cause i don't think he listens to stafford or respects him enough. broner was calming the corner down when maidana dropped him when it should be vice versa

i do respect him calling lucas out though- as a fan of the sport, i can't complain about him making a fight or at least staking a position to fight a good fighter, hope it happens before the year is over or early next year.

Broner was rocking at a C+ tonight. That would have been a C- without the KD
