The 1990 NFC championship game between the NYG/SF was epic as hell, too.

Even the Olympic closing 2008 bob costasI don't care what anyone says but Bob Costas was the goat at intros, whether basketball or olympics he made the event feel like a spectacle
All factsThe presentation/production values are night and day. Those NBC games felt like EVENTS. There was genuine buildup.
Now, like you said, it's just straight buffoonery.
Intro:
*Russell Westbrook shows up to the game in a dress and purse*
Malika: "Russ is coming with the swag tonight."
Kendrick: "You can tell that man is on a mission."
SAS: "The Knicks haven't had anybody this serious on their team in 25 years."

This is my personal favorite. Enter the sandman with a creepy little white girl saying he's baaack
Man our teachers were all rocking Cowboys jerseys and putting up 3-peat posters. The AFC winner was viewed as a sacrificial lamb. Kinda thought the Steelers would get past the Chargers, especially AT the old Three Rivers Stadium but Natrone Means an em had other plans.80S babies remember how epic this game was. fukking two juggernauts right there.
Even the Olympic closing 2008 bob costas

It was the perfect collision of (1) GOAT basketball player (Michael Jordan), (2) GOAT sports theme music, and (3) GOAT sports television-presenter,Yoooo that was fukking amazing. The thing about the NBC/Costas intros were that you could not even be a basketball fan and they would give you an idea of why the game you were about to watch was so special. fukking goose bumps watching every one of these posted in here.
NBA on NBC might be the all time GOAT sports production.

He also covered wrestling and worked for WWF for a hot second he don’t want you to know that thoFacts. Costas a baseball guy and baseball maybe the best sport for storytelling. Also most of the tv commentators in that era started on radio.
Baseball and a radio background gave him the perfect skillet for those NBA on NBC intros
I remember this day like it was yesterday.
