The gear is a killer.. I get that they don't want to lose on the merch money in each city he visits. And the "you dress like me" bar was actually heat, but the reality is it looks dumb as fukk to have him out there looking exactly the same, same music, but being this angsty bad guy. It just takes away from the whole presentation.

Exactly. Pointed this out earlier, but there is no change in presentation. Not expecting him to be rocking a suit every week, but something to change up the presentation. Hell, have him record a different them for this final run and try to make a few bucks off it. But keeping everything the same isn't it.

Square biz.

Like the Hoegan turn was magical because of the era for the time. It was a huge damn deal for Hoegan to go mask off in a time when the product was going the ECW gritty side.

If anything, a Cody turn would have been what the streets needed and it would have been magical, if he turned on CeGOAT at the grandest stage of them all to become Homelander.

But here we are with this meh run because Trips booking himself into a NXT bland corner.

Cody turning heel wouldn't have had the same effect. Save that one for when they have a hot face that they can build to main event one of the big 4 PPV's.

I hate fantasy booking. I just like letting shyt play out the way the writers/talent want

lets Keep it real. It’s hitting but not on god tier level.

They doing it half way right by keeping him in Super Cena attire.

but they messed up making him shyt on his fanbase. John should strictly been talking to the big brothers, uncles, the hipsters and everyone else that had issues with his run.

John should still been the face for the kids but straight dogs shytting on cats that thought it was cool to boo him

just think how Bret was a face in Canada but heel in the US

John could still been a face to the kids that looked up to him but hated by these Cody marks

but that’s just my opinion

The big heat from yesterday promo was Cena saying he’d retire with the belt. HUH? lol Roman just held 2 belts hostage and they just went and made another one and never mentioned the 2 belt thing ever again. I dare someone say this isn’t last minute shyt because if this has been the plan for a year that’s sad

I don't necessarily think Cena turning is "last minute" but I don't think they had the dates with him and The Rock and all of that worked out prior to doing it so it's made the whole thing tough to get into and the reasoning behind his turn hasn't quite been expounded on. We all know he's been a loser lately and desperate for #17 to cement his legacy but the promos haven't nailed that part of it.

Regardless, I do think Cena is doing good promo work and the atmosphere with him and Cody will be flames.

What I'd like to see is more of The Rock and Cena together in the ring...

I had a few issues with the first promo, but overall, it got the point across and I was willing to give it a chance. Then he cuts the same promo a week later.

I don't think Cena believes what he's saying. It's like he's pretending to be a heel instead of embracing it. He literally sounds like he's forcing the words out of his mouth. At the core, every heel turn is justified. It makes sense within the story being told. Drew turned heel because he was tired of losing and refused to take responsibility for his failures. New Day turned heel because they felt like Big E wasn't committed to the group anymore and they wasted years of their career waiting for him to come back when that was never going to happen. Naomi turned heel because she felt like Jade wasn't deserving of her opportunities and was tired of being overlooked and disrespected.

Why is Cena heel? Because the fans made him upset? The John Cena I've been watching for seventeen years, the guy I've seen acknowledge the audience multiple times and how they treated him, wouldn't say what he's saying right now. If he turned in 2011/2012, his promos and justification would be more meaningful. He would have been the hottest heel in wrestling. Now, it just comes off like something he has to do right before he retires, so he knows what it feels like.

Triple H's booking is for the moment. You'll get big moments like SummerSlam last year or the Elimination Chamber, but the weekly shows and long-term storylines move at a snail's pace. You get these huge earth-shattering events and filler in between. Cena as a heel should be must-see TV every week. But you can tell he's not into it, and once they come back to America, the crowds here are going to recognize it and call it out.

The first promo was so meh I haven't even checked for the second one yet. This Mania build is garbage on several levels from what I can see in clips. Triple nose being exposed again. Where's a Ryan Ward to save him?

The crazy thing is that I didn't mind the promo, but it was obviously a Juelz for a "Triple Groans" joint.

Cody popping up and not saying shyt killed the vibe for me.
