I think people are confusing things in this thread. A lot of stores do it, not only retail clothing stores. This happens so much during Black Friday, especially in electronics/computer sites. They will jack the price up slowly day by day leading right before Black Friday. Even if it's common knowledge, is it right?

This is shady shyt. Of course the consumer shoulders the blame for their decision and stupidity, but should this be legal to do? This very article, and other sources, state the the consumer has been conditioned to behave this way.

i buy based on the value to me and price comparisons, not the absolute price

Boy, did I take the L today after my previous comments.

I put $1500 on 3 different gift cards from Kroger, not noticing until after I left that there was a $5.95 activation fee for each one. When I tried to return them seconds after, I was told no, tough shyt. Then to add insult to injury, even though there was nothing that clearly stated so, those particular cards don't get fuel points, so I missed out on $3.00 per gallon off of gas.

I bytched to Kroger corporate and the best they did was a $6 credit and 1000 in fuel points.

Complain about customers not doing their due diligence and don't do your due diligence brehs

Thought everyone already knew this. Consumers got to be smarter and do research before blindly purchasing things at a "discount".
that's why i tell ppl at the store not to spend too much time arguing with informed customers. women love big discounts and i'm in charge of pricing.. :birdman:

Well, in some cases, you're actually paying more when it's on "sale"

I worked there during this whole fukkkery and I KNEW about all of this. The company purposely would raise prices for items that were on sale for less before so they can look like they're marked down more later. The short-lived color coded system they tried to incorporate during their "eliminating coupon stage" had a lot of this. Customers weren't fooled and I got sick of trying to explain a pricing system to them that was obviously flawed to make the company look good and to keep my job.

So many people in corporate got canned during Ron Johnson's regime that were with the company for decades just because they didn't agree with his dumbass vision . I'm surprised I'm not hearing about more of them suing for getting fired.

didn't JC penny lose a lot of money cause they tried being honest with their prices?

truth is people are dumb AF, i'm not going to go into much depth but basically if two items were the same but one cost x2 than the other... more people would buy the one that cost more because it seems to have more "value"

Nobody ever wondered how a store could do this week in and week out...Macy's would constantly be in the red if merchandise was truly 30, 40, 50% of each weekend.

Only real sales are clearances and end of season sales.
