I own guns but open carry is ridiculous. There was nothing wrong with conceal carry.
These dudes who open carry only do so because they fantasize about stumbling into some situation where they can play hero. I’m a staunch supporter of the 2nd amendment but these try hard cacs are funny to me.
Being in a mass shooting situation doesn't make you lose the ability of common sense, situational awareness or communication.
Even if you have a gun and you're the good guy, you take cover so you can assess the situation. It becomes blatantly apparently very quickly if someone is shooting random people or shooting a targeted person or targeted group of people.
Once you engage the suspect and eliminate the threat, you reassess the situation make sure there aren't multiple shooters, look for the next threat or hazard, is there a fire? Is the floor wet from blood or people running and knocking shyt over, are there people with injuries that need to be tended to, are there people still hiding that you can direct to a safer area or an exit?
Once there is no longer a human threat (another suspect shooter) you reholster your weapon take care of injured people, redirect others and wait for police.
You don't lose the ability to see or communicate with others just because someone starts shooting, you make eye contact with people, tell them to stay down or run, announce the shooter is down, communicate that you are the good guy or trying to help.

Do you own and carry a gun? Thanks @Toe Jay Simpson
Even though he was referring to people who walk around with earbuds/pods stuck in their ears, the same can be said about people who open carry.
You’re nothing but a big ol’ target. You’re literally walking around with hundreds of dollars dangling off your hip. And if someone wanted your gun it’d be nothing to simply knock you clean tf out as you’re walking by, and take it.
Or creep you from behind as you’re leaving the store and slap you in a choke hold as their partners emerge from the behind the other parked cars and restrain you and relieve you of your possessions. Better hope that chokehold isn’t tight enough to put you to sleep.
Or they could simply walk up to you and pull their strap and rob you for yours. What are you going to do, be like billy the kid the fastest draw in the west and pull your gun out and shoot them in time?
If you want to carry your gun with you then the safest way to do it is concealed. Stop looking like an idiot out here. You simply look like a target, like a damn “King crab seasoning itself with Old Bay”.
I agree, that's all it is. I've seen it first hand. People like guns because they think they're cool and they want to shoot somebody like dirty harry. They claim it's for protection but nah.I’m not anti-gun, but it seems like some people are HOPING for an opportunity to shoot someone. It’s like they fantasize about being the heroes.
I think in a mass shooting situation, if multiple people pull guns, who do you know who to shoot, and who do the COPS know to shoot, and how do you shoot the shooter while people are running around?
Dap+repI don't open carry in public. But I open carry on my hip when hunting. I never have to use my pistol but it's there just in case.
An armed society is a polite society.
It's a fact that people who appear weak and or defenseless are preyed upon. While a gun doesn't make a person tougher, people who are visibly armed tend to make the area surrounding them less prone to bullshyt.
Yeah there are scenarios where people who are armed whether concealed or open are taken down. If you walk into a gas station and see a guy with a gun on his hip you ain't gonna rob it whiles he's there, that's for sure.
People who open carry in my opinion don't want the smoke. They'd rather someone see they are carrying and have that be enough for them to . They are using it as a deterrent.
Im concealed 99% of the time and I don't want any smoke but if I have to I have to. I have enough situational awareness and social skills that shooting isn't my first resort.

Lotta cacs think like this. It’s like they fantasize about being the heroes.
