There are several works of fiction involving black characters that won't be Greenlit.

The best we can for, In regards to representation, is token use, that doesn't make us look bad like House of the Dragon.
No the best isn't tokenism and race swapping it's getting actual black stories and myths produced and distributed

He said he was making a mythology for Brits, not that he was making a mythology about Britain. He repeatedly denied that the place settings in his books represented real places or that the people represented real races.

"The goodness of the West and the badness of the East has no modern reference. The concept came about through the necessities of narrative."

I read the Hobbit when I was a kid, didn't like it that much. I've seen the movies and I've done research on how Tolkien viewed race, which I have brought up here before.

So are you a big fan of the books? Despite believing that they depict modern races?
You are parsing without making a difference.

Who said there were direct correlation to actual places and middle earth, this is literally a straw man.

You didn't read the hobbit at all if you claim there were no races of men, or creatures, in it. Nothing I wrote had anything to do how how Tolkien viewed race it's about his work which he provided character descriptions, which he stated inspiration of, which he endorsed drawings of.

I didn't say the books depict modern races you said that. Another strawmen.

If you don't think the groups in the book depict modern races, then why do you give a shyt which modern race plays which one?

You literally called it "race swapping". How can it be race swapping if we aren't the races depicted in it anyway?

Lol, groups in the book don't depict modern races. Rohan doesn't depict a specific real life society. That said we know from Tolkien rhoderans were akin to nords. Gondor inhabitants Britain's. And etc.

We know from descriptions of the race of men in lotr and texts and from Tolkien how characters looked and you simply cast characters that fit descriptions. Black people aren't going to be playing Anglo Saxon or Nordic based characters.

So if you cast a black guy to play say a elf it makes no sense in that fantasy settings, you might get away with a black dwarf, but as the concept of dwarves was taken by Tolkien from Scandinavian lore that anyone views dwarves as black is not likely and absurd.

Reeks of modern race swapping that is nothing but superficial diversity at the expense of source material
