Why don't people get an actual cute dog breed and not one that can barely breathe.

My Collie is a straight up gentleman but knows how to handle business. My boy will lay there peaceful until he sees something he don’t like. You can’t tell me he wouldn’t have the yammer on him if he had the hands for it

My brother in law has one. That lil niigga be running his pockets with health bills. I ain't gonna front, I had thought about getting one until I saw how expensive they were to both buy and maintain. You gotta make sure their ears is clean, the folds in their face is clean (my bro in law's dog cost him a pretty penny with an infection he caught from not having his face cleaned properly), and their booty hole too because the short tail can plug it up sometimes :dame:

I went out to his crib and saw the dog, he told me taking care of that niigga cost him like $5000 in vet bills last year.

you gotta clean them extra well

prone to having respitory infections and problems

need a lot of vet visits compared to your average pet.

some of them can't even go for an effective walk.

that breed has been through enough cruelty with the inbreeding. it needs a shake up and people need to get smart about what they sign up for. I seen a whole lot of bulldogs given up and traded hands over the amount of need and care they require.
If you don’t have pet insurance with these breeds then you’re a got damn fool.

My boy has an American bully with hip dysplasia . He’s spent over 6 racks on vet bills. I told him to get pet insurance when he first got her :snoop:

most people don't even have health insurance on themselves :heh:

I want to get one because I heard they’re good for protection.
bulldogs are damn near immobile half the time... maybe 100 years ago:francis:

some relevant reading on dog breeds over time

Fascinating photos show how drastically some popular dog breeds have changed over the past 100 years

The (de-)evolution of the bulldog - Scienceline

Over just 100 years, the English bulldog has undergone an unfortunate transformation. Unsustainable generations of selective inbreeding have exaggerated the breed's features to an unhealthy, extreme degree. [Image courtesy of Caen Elegans]

Since the 1800s, the number of purebred bulldogs has declined. In fact, the research study from 2016 that said it may be too late to save bulldogs cited evidence that the entirety of the English Bulldog population was bred from just 68 individuals.

According to Sargan’s research, there has been very little new genetic variation over the last 150 years. Today’s bulldogs look mean and intimidating but tend to be docile, brave and friendly with children, in part because of their high tolerance for pain. This can have some drawbacks, though, as bulldogs may not complain or indicate to their humans when they are hungry or in pain.

I’m joking breh. And English bull dog with decent size may work as intimidation and can break bones if they somehow lock on but yeah are kinda useless creatures. A frenchie would be beyond useless other than for alert but I’ve heard they can be yappy so you would probably just tune it out :mjlol:.
