Good for him, I speak Mandarin and English. Took a while to get it right.

Cantonese is way too hard! Plus those tones 9 of those suckers. He should make a package a market it and sell his technique.

Still really impressed, congrats to that brother!

How long did learning Japanese enough to understand it take you?

I've had a teacher since March and stopped studying from the end of May until two maybe three weeks ago.

Get you a textbook, learn the grammar. Vocabulary of that chapter, conjugation of verbs and adjectives.

Get you a native to talk to and eat.

Where I shouldn't be
...dude makes me feel like I've wasted my life.:mjcry:

My Step-dad speaks 6x languages from learning Latin as a kid.
Even my younger siblings are fluent in French.
Do you know how hard it is watching them argue in French, whilst I sit there waiting for a word I recognise.

nah... he speaks Haitian too
Me knowing some Japanese, French and Haitian Kreyol I can say that from when I spoke to him on Skype video, his cantonese and mandarin are his best languages. His Japanese doesn't sound nowhere near as good as other guys I've heard online such as this cat named Khatzumoto. When you don't know the language, you'll think :whoo: "this dude fluent!" but when you do, it sounds off.

This guy's japanese is really good. eyes closed he sounds close to a normal Japanese speaker.

Even a japanese person said so

This guy learned from dude above (Khatz) and his Japanese is REALLY good. Like, close to native good.

If I had to rate them, Matt is like a 9/10 overall, Khatz a 8.5/10 and Moses like a 6.5/10.

I wasn’t saying his other languages were good or bad or anything, I was saying that he knows a lot of languages and is conversational in them and that’s impressive enough for me.

I’ve also seen him speak japanese, swedish, arabic, loation, tagalog, etc., and can pretty much change dialects at the drop of a hat.

He doesn’t have to be fluent in all of them. And cantonese and mandarin are his main languages. These guys you posted just seem to only be fluent in japanese... cool story, i know many people IRL fluent in japanese. Not as impressive to me as a dude that can shift to damn near any language at the drop of a hat

Go for interest instead of difficulty. If you're not interested you won't retain or practice.

English is a Subject--Verb--Object language grammatically. Any language that follows those rules will be easier for you to learn.

Of course, being in the States you have a lot of opportunities with diverse communities. Try them until you like it.
Im in Miami. learning either will be a godsend Kreyol or spanish. Whichever is easiset I guess.

So learning Latin really made it easier to learn the other Romance languages?

Not difficult at all to learn another language.

Wish more of us were multilingual.. I'm fluent in Spanish, French, German and Arabic. More so cause of the military then anything else.

The military is great for that I knew this one breh who spoke Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, and a lil German all from the military
