Ibiza is garbage. Go to Lux on Friday, Beacon on Saturday afternoon and Park on Saturday night. PM if you need more info.

Black "Elite" and DC is almost the biggest running joke in the DMV.

dont let them stuck up bytches and DL nikkas from Howard trick you into thinking it's a city/area full of well to do black folks who tip their hats at each other when passing by.

:heh:

I agree. I visit family in the area all the time. Like I told the OP, he should ignore all that "black elite" rhetoric because 100 percent of the people he will most likely meet are lying about their affiliations and those that come from that world, you will know right off the bat and their personalities will have you :mindblown:.

The so called black elite don't have this extreme stockpile of wealth. What was passed down was social etiquette and values. That's what people do not understand. This bragging is no-no and there are a lot of people looking to recreate the definition of the "black elite" who fail miserably. Some people within the "club" have snubbed Barack and Michelle as not being "in". That goes to show you the amount of snobbery ingrained within the so called "black elite" when they don't consider the 1st Black President a member.

Certain social clubs have regional standards but they all share some of the same characteristics. If OP becomes a Dentist, he'll run in those circles but a guy who comes from a rough area or not apart of that world and ends up surrounded by it will hate it.

From what it seems your looking for....Downtown silver spring seems to be a good look. I wish I still lived there. Metro accessible, right near the city, a city area in itself. Different ways to get home if you are in traffic. All these people saying Fairfax and Bowie....thats cool if you don't mind being in the suburbs, but they kinda far.

Went to the Fillmore for a concert not too long ago, that downtown area of SS was definitely a good look.

My best friend is stationed in NO still but she's from DC and she was telling me about the career opportunities for black dentist in in the Maryland/DC area. shyt sounded really tempting. Her and her husband leave NO in September 2013. I won't be done with school and Post Grad until 2014. I was thinking about even doing my residency there. What's it like out there? I plan on being in the crowd of black elite. Not tryna be an ass but if Im raking in nearly 6 figures a yr, who the hell else would i hang around? What's good out there?
Just an FYI, taxes are higher in DC. So, you would be paying more in DC income tax than you would Maryland or Virginia income tax. In Virginia, there is personal property tax, so you get taxed on your car every year, not just the sales tax when you buy it.
About Maryland, Prince George County is okay. It costs less to live there than in Montgomery County because, well, it's a bit more ghetto. It used to have a high auto theft crime rate. I don't know if it is still like that. More about Montgomery County Maryland, downtown Silver Spring isn't really safe. I would say Wheaton and all points north and north west is better. Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Urbana and some people even commute in from Frederick. Columbia is its own mini-city and is expensive but nice. It's also half-way to Baltimore.
I don't know much about the Virginia side since I didn't live there. Suburban sprawl in VA goes west and south. People commute in from Leesburg, Centerville, Manassas, Reston, Woodbridge and Fredericksburg to DC daily. It's crazy.
Traffic is crazy, so that is why those who work inside the Beltway choose to live inside the Beltway.

Bethesda is nice too. It's inside the Beltway and borders NW DC. Very expensive. Even the hobos are drinking Starbucks.

This. Had a argument with a few peeps at work about this. Seems like peeps in this area have a huge sense of entitlement. I know a few who are damn near bankrupting themselves to live that DC high life. Kinda sad but if I was about all that, I could see myself easily fallen prey.

Dog, my nikka tried to set up with this spot right around the corner from Bolling cuz I thought I was getting this gig at NDU. Checked that shyt out. Stepped out my car and saw just pure despair. Jumped back in and never went back unless it was for a Nats game or my intramural alum league on the Yard.

Man just move out to Fairfax like I'm about to do it or get a spot in Kingstowne. Close enough to the city but far away from the fukkery that comes with District. And you get the same diversity but not nearly the good ass food they got over there. Good luck with getting a DC rat to come over here for fukk purposes tho. They treat Fairfax county like a leper colony

You must mean River Hill off 2nd and Malcolm X , shyt's live as fukk out there. I'ma make that my new home soon, them rent prices is :wow:...

Downtown Silver Spring not safe? :wtf: At most you gotta worry about watching some young nikkaz fakin and scrappin with each other. Them Mo Counterali's don't play no fukkin games, if a nikka popped off on the strip he better be Usain Bolt fukkin wit Mo County feds. Shiiiiit, I'm shook whenever I go back to the block cuz them fools can jump out on you at any moment. They brought out tanks when that psycho took the Discovery Building hostage, that let me know don't no feds flex like Mo County feds.

Edit: Oh and just a comment about the black elite stuff. I live around em in Ft. Washington so I see them at the store sometimes or out and about and you can imediately feel the vibe of snobbery coming from them. My community is split I live on the middle class side but if I drive down the street to West Tantallon there's golf courses and mansions everywhere. But I think what your friend is talkin about is more the hood rich, govt job, havin crowd that drive Beamers and Benzes but still got them slightly ratchet sensibilities.

We got both them types in Ft. Washington, though you'll find more of that in Clinton where there's been more housing developments but southern PG County is the exact place you got in mind. If you get a house in Mitchellville you might as well name your son Carlton and get that Georgetown Prep money ready. If you thinkin lofts then all the spots near Branch Ave station are your ticket, go to Tribeca first cuz there's nothin but bad bytches runnin them hallways.

Well, it ain't bad to me but your inside the beltway and a lot closer to the city line. AND those spots are on the southside so your bordering Southeast. So it look slum, shyt can get very real, but it still ain't SE, UPT, or NE. FYI, a veteran sohh poster stays there and she's doin just fine so take it for what it's worth.
