Thinking about moving to DC...

My best friend is stationed in NO still but she's from DC and she was telling me about the career opportunities for black dentist in in the Maryland/DC area. shyt sounded really tempting. Her and her husband leave NO in September 2013. I won't be done with school and Post Grad until 2014. I was thinking about even doing my residency there. What's it like out there? I plan on being in the crowd of black elite. Not tryna be an ass but if Im raking in nearly 6 figures a yr, who the hell else would i hang around? What's good out there?

Black elites are mostly in Prince George's, it's the wealthiest black county in America and ironically also a pretty violent place. If you gettin paid like that then the key for you is to live outside of the Beltway. Go inside it and you might as well just move to NW DC itself cuz you'll mostly see shyt. In terms of PG, you got National Harbor, the condos by Branch Ave station (Delonte West got a spot there), Ft. Washington (Where I stay, middle and upper class black folks, Riddikk Bowe stay out here), Old Town Alexandria, VA(if you like pawgs), downtown Silver Spring, MD (If you like diversity), Waldorf, MD if you wanna be further from the city and get that more country/southern type pace, there are lots of places you can go fo real fo real.

PG County (Mitchelville, Clinton, Bowie, Laure), Northern VA (Alexandria, Arlington County, Loudon County), Montgomery County (Bethesda, Rockville, some of Silver Spring, Gaithersburg), Charles County are great places to raise a family.

Also, everything is close so its not like living in other parts of the country where you have to drive many miles to reach some entertainment spots

Mclean/Fairfax, Va got some upper class well off residents also. My aunt is one of them, you should def check out that area.

the City is very expensive.

Its expensive everywhere, but its more in the city.

There are a lot of jazz spots and lounges. No one tryna be apart of that young ruffian life.

Sike naw, there are lots of nice gentrified areas in the city. You should look into sections of NW and some small parts of SW and SE too. Basically the closer you are to downtown the better it gets generally but there are some exceptions. New York Ave, Mass Ave, Wisconsin Ave, K St, U St, Rhode Island Ave(NW), 13th, 14th, 16th, 18th St, Pennsylvania Ave, Georgia/7th Ave, Florida Ave, should all be points of interest. Some of those locales are near nightlife(including the sluts), some are the whitest parts of DC, some of em are swanky condos surrounded by lil wayne clones and quasi-ahki's.

In terms of things to do, that all depends on you breh. Lots of bars and clubs around here, but if you ain't into that I dunno take a brisk walk on the mall and look at some old bones in the Smithsonian.

Most of McLean is dumb expensive, but overall very nice. Fairfax is a dope area, pretty much spans the spectrum of races and economic scale.

But for the OP, Arlington is a dope area, again rather expensive, not really a core black area though, super dope for mostly white girls. Most of what everyone said about parts of PG County and certain areas of DC are a good look.

6 figures won't take you too far in the area, but you can do very well.

Don't steer that man wrong and send him to the danger zone. VA the scariest place in the area to a nikka from MD or DC. It's shark infested waters til you get to Woodbridge.

The nickname for the neighborhood i grew up in is Da Bloody Nickel. Ask houston911. He got people in Kashmere Gardens which is right up he street. I been surrounded by ratchedness my entire life. Im good with my money and my credit has been in the high 700s for a good two yrs. Ain't tryna go back to the hood no time soon.

I ain't tryna say Im better than nikkas or no shyt like that Im done with the hood life. I've learned everything i need to learned out that muhfukka.

Last xmas season I went to visit my aunt since it's not that far of a drive from 804, so when I get there this rental cop she had at the front gate asked me did I have an appoinment

True to a point, I'll actually be out in Clarendon over Labor Day weekend w/ my boy who's black, but we go back since 5th grade. It's a great place for white chicks though.
