Ring this guy up.

An ingenious Idaho man used a homemade barcode-inscribed ring at Walmart’s self-checkout to pay the price of a can of soup for pricey goods, according to authorities.

Dylan Rockwell, 32, allegedly admitted to ripping off the store on several occasions and was finally caught after ringing up the price of a can of tomato soup for a $300 grill at Walmart, according to a statement from the Caldwell Police Department shared on Instagram.

The clever alleged thief used the makeshift ring, which was inscribed with the cheap barcode, to wave over the reader when left unattended at the self-checkout line.

A can of Great Value Tomato Condensed Soup at Walmart retails for around $0.70.

Officers responded to the Idaho Walmart on Feb. 2 after reports of a theft in progress — and tracked Rockwell back to his home, about 25 miles from state capital Boise, according to the post.

While being questioned by police, Rockwell allegedly copped to pulling the hand-waving scam at Walmart on several occasions, the post read.

“Sorry Mr. Rockwell, your tactics didn’t work this time but we appreciate your creativity,” Calwell Chief of Police Rex Ingram said in a statement, adding, “We know that times are tough but your ingenuity got you some county soup for dinner.”

Officers recovered the grill from Rockwell’s home.

The 32-year-old is being charged with felony burglary.

I used to use a UPC barcode generator on my phone to print barcodes with a Bluetooth portable printer. Prints on sticky paper. Go into the store and find the item you want (used to do it on high end TVs and Bluetooth speakers and what not at Costco/target/Walmart etc)

Put cheap barcode on box after acting like you inspecting it. Leave store. Come back and buy the item at the regular checkout. The cashier don't know the difference between the 65" Samsung TV worth 2000 and the one that's worth 500. Even if they catch on, they the one ringing it up. Get a good TV for cheap

Or do the reverse, buy the expensive item, and steal the cheap one. Put expensive barcode on cheap item. Return cheap item that has expensive barcode. Get all your money back and keep the expensive one
