I understand these points and backed them during after my first playthrough. But kids dying left and right by clickers and by people. Skirmishes over outposts, etc..., are all reasons why you take chances in such situations. Joel's kid was shot because of that virus.

And killing researchers that were making progress was a huge boon for progress to the development of a vaccine.

I haven't played the 2nd game, but from the few previews I have seen it looks even more messed up than the first game.

The second game was very polarizing.

For me personally, it's one of my favorite games of all times honestly. There's a character in the game that many ppl dont like due to what she does. She grew on me tho and in light of the events in game one, you can understand why she did what she did. But yeah, the game is WAY darker than part 1. Very depressing ngl

Off the top: I hate that they casted that girl to play Ellie.

She looks nothing like Ellie. And I don’t think I’m gonna get over looking at her face wishing it was some other actress.

Personally, Imma try to watch the show on its own terms without comparing it too much to the game. Pedro Pascal looks nothing like Joel either but he's still perfect for that role IMO.

Nah you can flesh out the story way more on TV than in a game. Plus with Neil on board, you know they won't stray too far off and still be true to the story.

Some fools are complaining about petty bullshyt already like how the girl who plays Ellie looks different. Some fans have decided to just hate on it from jump.

I'm excited for this one.

Neil is the reason why Part 2 was trash. Knowing what we know now, Sony execs were the real mvp because they kept him in check and produced the best gaming story ever in Part 1. They gave him carte blanch in Part 2 and ruined it. I have no faith in this. If it’s good, it’s good. But I have zero expectations. I already don’t like the castings.

I hated being forced to play as Abby at first, but after like 10 minutes I got over it and actually grew to like her as a character. Joel's character was always going to die a tragic death. All the ppl he killed, especially at the hospital... it was bound to catch up to him sooner or later. There was never going to be a happy ending for him.

Neil wanted Abby to be trans or some shyt like that I heard so he didn't get carte blanche. I guess the compromise was to make her a masculinized female + the whole Lev storyline

Ellie's death would not have guaranteed that a vaccine could be developed. The chance that it wasn't gonna work anyway was pretty huge given how vaccines are normally developed. With Ellie as the only immune person, they only had this one sample to work with. It's a huge gamble. It seems unethical to cause a child to die based when you're not even sure of the outcome.

Also, Ellie was not even informed that extracting the sample would kill her.

She had a minor role in Game of Thrones and people exaggerated how great she was in it because she was a female speaking powerfully for 30 seconds. It was more “yaaass girl!” by the public than actual great acting.

All the early reviews so far say she kills it.

I expect the show to be great, the brain behind the game teamed up with the guy that did Chernobyl, great cast, can't miss.
