Hawks forward Paul Millsap was involved in accident late Monday afternoon when his car collided with a motorcycle in the city of Atlanta. Police and fire departments responded to the scene.
The Hawks confirmed the incident Tuesday afternoon.
According to the police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Millsap was not at fault for the accident that occurred when the motorcycle driver pulled out in front of the Rolls Royce he was driving. The motorcycle driver, who was hospitalized, was cited with failure to maintain his lane. According to the report, the motorcycle driver “lost control of the bike” and hit Millsap’s vehicle head on.
Millsap was uninjured and took part in the Hawks’ morning shootaround in advance of tonight’s exhibition game against the Pelicans. He is expected to play.
The incident occurred after Millsap had left a team sponsored golf outing at Druid Hills Golf Course. The crash happened near the intersection of Ponce de Leon Avenue and Oakdale Road and the motorcycle caught fire, according to Fire Department Sgt. Cortez Stafford.
“A Grady ambulance was already at the scene assessing the patient, who was alert and conscious but injured,” Stafford said. “Firefighters extinguished the fire and assisted with cleanup. The injured man was taken to the hospital for treatment.”
