i would advise to go to a place like london(uk) maybe paris also but the language thing.

because you really want to be walking amongst your people its safer friendlier better atmosphere. i mention these 2 cities not only because of the black population and prominent places but its much safer for you.

anyway no one is traveling anytime soon smh. we move outside 15 miles of our home its a 800.00 fine :bryan:

I feel like Nigerian Americans and British Nigerians view home differently. We (Naija Americans) generally still view US as our home despite all the bs this put as throuhhand we often see ourselves as Americans first . British Naijas seem like to not generally don't see themselves as totally British. What do you think?

interesting.

i have never been to america and i have a cousin there but he is british. i notice those nigerians in america only through sports and entertainment so i cant really speak on the american side of things. here its a fact if you are born after 1984 (when renewing your passport) you are not fully british you have to go through a criteria its very subtle and intricate.

i just said that because most of us are 2nd born british citizens thats from the 80s to present. it was our parents coming over choosing the UK prosperity so for us nigerians we always knew with small things like :

- if you are bad/naughty your parents threaten to send you home
- you eating nigerian foods
- you are speaking nigerian well understand it
- the household hasnt changed so its not like the culture of the brits was a major influence.

i see americans really have the white media and culture in their households which allows for this type of identity. we are somewhat prideful but theres a new generation of 3rd nigerian brits who have adopted more of their culture and speak patios, tattoos, the whole western schtick. i hope that helped a little clarity because africans are treated differently to carribeans here in the UK. (not all negative but its stereotypes still)

I agree with this, I think it comes down to ‘black british’ not being a thing the way ‘black american’ is a whole culture

there is no separation amongst blacks in the USA it appears to me. but in the UK there are many divisions amongst different black groups.

a patois speaking black teen would befriend and chose a whiteboy over an african teen. as for the girls forget it a lot of separation and whites know this here and capitalize off that division.

making a lot of africans wish they wasnt, while caribbeans hate because africans reach prominent positions here.

I don’t think Caribbeans hate Africans here or the other way round. I think it alot of it comes from Jamaican/Nigerian ego, we both think we’re better than everyone else and we’re the most vocal about it.

When I got with my girl (Nigerian) my Dad said becareful she not using you for a greencard and her family told her I would get her pregnant and leave because that’s what Jamaicans do apparently

And I don’t think white people take advantage of the separation I don’t even think they can tell us apart
