Rod Streater taking advantage with Albert Wilson out

Injuries are a part of the game and new Kansas City Chiefs WR Rod Streater is taking advantage of one. Albert Wilson has been out the past four practices with a calf injury. No word on when he’ll return. In the meantime, Streater has stepped up in his spot and is earning praise.

“I think Rod’s done a phenomenal job,” Jeremy Maclin said via quotes from the Chiefs. “We’ve asked him to play outside, we’ve moved him to the slot and I think he’s a very intelligent guy. He’s picked up on the playbook really well. I think he’s going to help us as well. I think the big thing for him is to keep the pedal to the metal, stay in this playbook, and be able to do everything like they ask him to.”

Streater said it was “really cool” to hear a veteran like Maclin say that about him. (More quotes from Streater in Pete Sweeney’s story here)

“Yeah, Rod's real smart,” Chiefs OC Matt Nagy said this week, “and I think the thing with Rod is you can see some of his experience that he's had. So you can move him all over the field, you can put him inside. You can put him outside and he might get a little different coverage against Marcus Peters that he's not ready for, and he adjusts well to it.”

The KC Star’s Terez Paylor said Streater has “emerged as a solid target” for Alex Smith.

Streater once caught 60 balls in a season when Terrelle Pryor and Matt McGloin were his quarterbacks. That shows you some of the upside you’re hoping for here. On the flip side, that was three years ago. I also get the impression he’s a good teammate Chris Conley was mic’d up this week and there were a few shots of him cheering for Streater.

I mentioned Streater as one of the biggest unknowns for the Chiefs. If he can push Wilson and / or Conley, the Chiefs are going to be better off for it.
:francis:

I don't know why he didn't get more PT last season, but glad to see him get another chance.

Offensively this year I want

1... receivers to hold on to the ball on 3rd downs... shyt killed us last year in close games

2.. Carr to play better in the 4th quarter... first 3 quarters he's fine.. 4th come around and it's turnovers

3.. Musgrave ass to quit that run on first and second down and pass on 3rd in third quarters of games and then to go back to spread offense in the 4th
