Okay so here's where we are as of today:
* The re-signing of Holmes is interesting. He had interest from MIA. Had offers from 2 other teams on the table BUT called OAK WANTING to re-sign here. So, despite that he's not a tier 1 signing, the desire to re-sign can speak volumes of where this team is at.
* Talks broke down w/ OL-D.Penn thus his very 1st visit will be w/ NYG. Unsure what caused the break down but IMO Penn is asking too much for where he is at in his NFL career(age, etc).
* With Weddle off the board, the team has turned their interest towards these following safeties... R.Nelson(CIN), R.Johnson(ARI) & T.Jefferson(ARI). NOTE: fellow RF member RN24 suggested this not long ago so good call. It appears of the 3 Jefferson is the 1 garnering most interest HOWEVER, he's a RFA & ARI did assign him a low tender level. Unfortunately, if OAK really wants him, they'll have to offer a deal ARI views not worthy to match. IF OAK does sign him, ARI receives no compensation for him due to the type of level they tendered for Jefferson but OAK will have to over pay. Not sure where RM views that & Jefferson worth quite yet. The other thing, can't figure out Nelson. Had a good year this past season but even former DC-M. Zimmer (HC w/ MIN) has opted to pass on signing him & CIN has no interest in retaining him. Age @ 32 maybe?
* IMO, I see OAK adding another signing or 2 like the Bates one. I can see them adding another DB or S but would say 1 of each going off what the staff has said during PC & interviews since offseason. I would think they address LT IF Penn walks as they have interest in Okung. I know Okung has offers from 3 teams I believe but he seems to be still doing his tour w/ visits.
* Lastly, they have an offer on table for ILB-E.Henderson(NYJ) & between OAK & NYJ. Henderson is sorting things so looks like another Weddle waiting game. Have been told IF Henderson stays put they have another guy in line for plan B."
