Michael Crabtree, Raiders agree to 4-year extension - NFL.com

Michael Crabtree won't be testing the free-agent market again next offseason.

Crabtree and the Raiders agreed to a four-year, $35 million contract extension on Wednesday, a source informed of the deal told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. The deal, which is expected to be finalized soon, includes nearly $19 million guaranteed, Rapoport reported.

Pro Bowl ballot

ESPN's Adam Caplan first reported the impending agreement.

Crabtree has turned his career around in Oakland after a injury-ravaged 2013 and a disappointing 2014 in San Francisco.

Regaining his 2012 form as a sure-handed possession receiver, effective red-zone weapon and run-after-catch threat, the 28-year-old wideout is on pace for 88 receptions, 1,013 yards and nine touchdowns.

The new contract ensures that Derek Carr, a second-year breakout star at quarterback, will enjoy stability going forward with Crabtree and rookie sensation Amari Cooper as his top targets. The passing attack has exceeded expectations under new coordinator Bill Musgrave this season.

After deconstructing Oakland's roster early in his tenure, general manager Reggie McKenzie deserves credit for finally showing tangible signs of progress on his reconstruction project this year.

With a talented young offensive nucleus in place, McKenzie can concentrate on building around stud edge rusher Khalil Mack on defense this offseason.

Well, we have two good receivers now. This contract will expire, when Cooper's contract expires. Who thinks this is too much?

SO OFFENSE IS TOTALLY SET...

QB- Carr..... we need a quality veteran as backup tho who can win games....
RB - Murray, OLA & Reece...... we still need a 3rd down darren spoles as well
WR -- Coop, Crab, Roberts, Holmes....
TE - Wolford & Rivera... these 2 still need to learn to stop dropping the ball
Offensive Line.... we set, but need 2 more good backups.... look at the 6th and 7th round for that

DEFENSE on the other hand

1.. Cornerback... break the bank on a top 2 free agent cornerback
2.. Safety... Woodson up in age and playing with a bad shoulder and we need his replacement.....IF U SIGNED A BIG TIME FREE AGENT AT CORNER BEFORE THE DRAFT, THEN DRAFT A SOLID FREE SAFETY....
3.. we have mack and hopefully aldon come back.. we really need a weak side linebacker after ray ray horrible performance
4.. STRONG SAFETY who can cover tight ends.......

Sadly, I admit I hated the crab signing during the offseason. But, he has proven to be reliable hands for Carr. It's not too much and it's a reasonable contract. I guess his shortcomings really were Laep's failure of being a decent QB.

I think we need to replace Murray at starting RB. No need to get rid of him cuz he is cheap labor. He needs somebody to learn from. How to run w lower pad levels and be more patient for the holes to develop.

I wonder if we could get Demarco on the cheap

That one stung and my boy trolled me w that today

But he could never remain healthy for us. Plus he was never a great safety in secondary... Those were some fortunate bounces he caught

Not bad.

I think we could do better on the O Line.... Specifically LT. Who knew Penn was a hot head?!? But for the sake of that defense, in theory you're right. Focus on the defense.

Sorry to say but might be time for a new kicker too. Paying him too much for the lack of production ... Del rio lack of confidence has to mean his leg strength is deteriorating at a rapid pace

:banderas: Carr, Cooper, Crab, Gabe, Hudson, & Clive, offense set got the foreseeable future. :francis: Murray I still not sold on, but I would give him one more year, but bring in another RB for him to compete with I'm FA or the draft. He is loose with the ball, gets tackled easily, and the O Line makes him look better than he is. He hasn't done much since Hudson been out, but he looks like he will break a thousand yards, just don't see him as the lead back and more as a rotational back. I love Carr, but he is literally too much like his hero Brett Favre though. He can make every throw in the book, but those 4th quarter INT's been driving me crazy. He has to ball out for the Raiders to win, but he needs to learn to chill at times and not look for the big play every time doing too much. The team is legit a defense away from being contenders.

I like Carrie, but he looks better as a hybrid safety/corner like the Cardinals are than just a cover corner. He should go back to SS because Nate Allen is pure :trash: since he been back. Hope Woodson has one more year, but more as a rotational player. Amerson is aight, but needs to work on his tackling. Need to get a FA CB and draft a CB, get another pass rusher and improve the line backer position and Raiders are legit contenders in the AFC forreal. :ehh:

they need to work on o line. they cool in passing but trash on the run, especially with Hudson gone. i think that'll help Murray.

they need corners most importantly. i wanna see how amerson and carrie finish though.

i don't think Woodson is retiring but I'm pretty sure Allen is a bum. so they could maybe groom one.

i like they young lbs they drafted this year.

i am sold on the whole d line, except jelly. :ld: i haven't seen shyt from him, had breh even played? i can't think of one memorable play.

they drafted andre debose to be the return man but breh your his Achilles. depending on how he's doing they might need a return man.

i don't think janikowski a bum though, i put that on this stubborn ass coaching staff. 2013 marquette king as holder, 70%. coaching staff realizes and changes holder to matt mcgloin, 2014 86%. dumb ass special teams coach out there changing to shyt that's already failed.
