I always considered backpack rap to be conscious underground incense burning brehs (and sistas) who wear multi-layers of clothes and knows hip hop history like a human encyclopedia.
However, reading the posts about the origins coming from more of a street nikka background definitely puts a different spin on it for me. At the end of the day either way you look at it, that list is more flawed than not.
