There's a glut of supply and soon it won't be able to keep up with demand. You only have so many hours in a day to watch TV. We are in the "Golden Age" of TV but that has spawned so many "must see" shows. It's not sustainable.

Between HBO, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. Too much.
Then you add in that NCAA, NBA and NFL are all in season right now :damn::mindblown:

A lot of stuff I have no interest in watching to be honest. The fact that network TV has completely cratered and isn't giving me anything I feel I should watch is sad.

I know a couple of people who basically use all their free time watching TV shows :francis: that shyt is not good for people who are easily addicted to watching shows...spend your prime years watching other people lives brehs

I usually watch 1-2 shows a quarter so 4-8 seasons a year. Right now I'm just watching Black Lightning.

I can't keep up with more shows than that. Plus I catch a movie at the theater 1-2 times a month although I think I'm done til Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 come out.

I don't understand how you can watch more TV/movies than that and still be productive in life :yeshrug: I guess if you just do the bare minimum in your career/business, you can binge watch TV all the time

TV is in a weird place. GoT is the last consensus show that we all watch at the same time and talk about.

Other than nerds like us the streaming shows don't garner as much discussion as people discover them at different times

I JUST STARTED GOT. THE fukkERY STARTED IN EPISODE 1 AND HASN'T SLOWED DOWN YET LMAO. ONLY THING THOUGH. THE STARK MOM REMINDS ME OF THE TELLER MOM FROM SOA. SHE KEEP fukkING shyt UP AND WON'T SIT HER ASS DOWN.

I just started getting back into TV recently, and I could easily watch like 4 hours per night.
Right now I'm watching Better Call Saul, Briarpatch, Forensic Files II, For Life, etc. Just finished Power and Mr. Robot

I will say though, I think it's not as bad as browsing the internet for hours on end.

I am not even going to lie. My sports intake has fallen almost all the way off because of my back log of shows I have to watch.

Wrestling has stopped all the way.
College basketball has stopped until March Madness. Or if I happen to by chance catch the Pitt Panthers play by accident. I am not looking for them though.
College football has fallen wayyy off except for big games. I use to watch every thing I could.
NFL I only watch the Steelers. I will keep an eye on box scores cause I run 4 plus fantasy teams. I used to watch every game I could.
Baseball:mjlol: I used to at least watch my Pirates religiously. I will be lucky to catch 3 games a year.
Hockey - I work part time for the Helpdesk for the NHL so I do watch Hockey but I am getting paid for it. I used to watch the Pens anytime they played.

shyt I dont even really watch ESPN like I used to. There was a time when I always had Sportscenter on in the background.

Despite all of this I am STILL way behind on the shows I want to watch. I am still in the middle of Narcos Mexico season one and the 2nd season just dropped.:sadcam:
I JUST finished the Mandolorian like a week ago.
Ozarks is dropping soon. I will prob not get to that until October :mjcry:

it’s not a lot if you just watch what you want to at your pace and not feel like you have to watch something cause it’s the topic of conversation

Even Netflix is starting to cannibalize itself with all its non stop/constant overlapping of new shows and movies being dropped damn near every month. They're going to have to let shyt breath for a minute before releasing the next movie or binge-able show
Netflix was supposed to be dying not even a few months ago, though:skip:With all of these networks putting out their own streaming platforms and taking the shows they have rights to off of the OG streaming platforms, original content is more important than ever.

Like @FlyRy said, GoT is most likely the last of the watercooler shows. I rarely watched it live, but I'll be damned if I didn't watch it by Monday morning the latest. Netflix is good for at least one thing (movie, series, documentary, or stand-up special) a month that will have some relative form of pop culture relevance and discussion. That's about the best you can ask for in the streaming age.

"Buzz" and traditional ratings numbers are becoming less important. Now it's number of subscribers and, more importantly, subscriber growth and sustainability. Are people sticking with your service or dropping it and then coming back when you have something worth watching? Every single original, since their first (House of Cards) is still and will always be there for you to watch. That means there is no urgency in watching anything the second it's released. Before streaming, you either were there for it when it aired, caught the rerun, or had to buy DVD boxsets of shyt you missed. So, besides "buzz", there really isn't anything wrong with continuously dropping original content. They do a pretty good job of having whatever their new shyt coming out is be the automatic trailer that plays when you open the app. They're doing a top 10 trending of the day list, and pretty much keep their original content front and center.
