Didn't they say Benoit's brain was basically equivalent to an 80-year old with Alzheimers? Not by any means a justification for what he did, but he wasn't all there.
Basically. Dude was mentally insane. Unfortunately, that doesn't matter because he killed his wife and son. And you know in our society, killing women and children (esp children) is that ultimate no no. So nobody cares about his mental condition because of their emotions.

Just saying :manny:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Benoit_double-murder_and_suicide#Possible_motives

Former wrestler Christopher Nowinski stated that Benoit may have been suffering from repeated, untreated concussions throughout his wrestling career, ultimately leading to an unstable mental state. Nowinski was quoted as saying that Benoit "was one of the only guys who would take a chair shot to the back of the head ... which is stupid."[22] Tests conducted on Benoit's brain by Julian Bailes, the head of neurosurgery at West Virginia University, showed "Benoit's brain was so severely damaged it resembled the brain of an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient."[23] Other tests conducted on Benoit's brain tissue revealed severe chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE),[24] and damage to all four lobes of the brain and brain stem.[25] Bailes and his colleagues concluded that repeated concussions can lead to dementia, which can contribute to severe behavioral problems. Benoit's father suggests that brain damage may have been the leading cause of the double murder-suicide.[26] A statement released by WWE dismissed this idea as "speculative".[27]

He was fukked.

There's no visual proof... Of course not, but the knife under his son's bed and a bible next to him and Nancy isn't enough?

All them RF Video shoots they always talk about Benoit as if a ghost took over his body that day

Like they can't ever admit he actually did it

But the fact is it was him regardless how fukk up his mind was

In the end WWE has to take a huge blame for having a guy so messed up in the roster

How did he get pass these wwe doctors for years without anybody saying maybe get a cat scan
No cat scan. Just lots of z pak

Yeah the mans brain had turned into Swiss cheese. Not the actions of a sane individual. He'd totally lost his mind. 21 years of brain trauma in the ring.

Every person who commits a reprehensible act does so because their brain is "different" from someone who wouldn't commit such an act. Including the worst people imaginable, ie. pedophiles, Hitler, etc. It's a strange kind of logic that says that your brain being messed up because of exogenous shocks inflicted during your adult life makes your kinda less culpable than if your brain was just messed since before you even had the capacity to make decisions, during development in utero, or because of childhood trauma, or whatever.

What Chris Benoit did was pure evil and he should never be in the HOF...

But you're lying to yourself if you don't think he's top 5 technical in ring performers ever, everything he did was so crisp and on point, every slam looked like it hurt, every move took an incredible amount of finesse to pull off. I know what he did was completely fukked but he wasn't in his correct state of mind and he's just way too good to not separate the man from the work.

And this is coming from someone who stopped watching wrestling over what he did, I didn't watch any wrestling for years and years over what Benoit did, it fukked me up so hard that one of my favorite wrestlers could've done that shyt, but after giving it some time, while I'll never look at him the same, Benoit the man =/= Benoit the wrestler

Great wrestler, terrible actions. I'm not going to turn off his matches if they come on, but I'd NEVER try to defend his actions or act like he should be HOF and mentioned on WWE tv.

Fully agree. I hate when people use his brain issues as a cop out. If you like him enough to separate the two, cool, but let's not pretend like there aren't prisons and death rows full of mentally fukked individuals like him. If he was Chris Benoit the trashman or plumber, everybody would be calling a spade a spade and admitting he fukked up. Just cause he did some nice suplexes doesn't absolve him of his actions.

There are people out there who still believe that Benoit didn't murder his wife and son? :wtf: He was one of the best technical wrestlers and one of my last true mark out moments was him winning at WM 20 but I still can't and won't ever try to rationalize his actions or separate what he did to his family from his career by saying he was a great wrestler whose brain was severely fukked. There were football players with CTE as well, but you never heard of them doing the heinous shyt that Benoit did.
