Mainstream music has moved away from ballads @Hathaway
Man the number one r&b song of the last few years was Leave The Door Open. That shyt won grammys. It proved that the ballad/love song is still desired. Just gotta get people back in that train of thought. Somebody just gotta get the ball moving and keep the momentum building.

Facts!

The Black Church was basically "Vocal Bootcamp", as well as a key component in our community.

Black churches still exist, so do their choirs and bands.

the noname people sing better now, but they are now vocal acrobats for social media and not real recording artists. the recording artists are celebrities and reality stars first and musicians second. this is happening all over the place - if you lean heavy toward talent and not so much into image, you are probably a battle rapper or youtube guitar expert

there is a disconnect between getting the talent to the industry where they can work with professionals to make great songs and develop stage presence.

This is the answer.
You don't need talent to sell a song in the music business anymore. The general public does not care. The labels have all kinds of tech to fill in deficiencies, it doesn't matter how good you sing or can play. The business has gone past that.

True, but the "Gospel Influence" is gone from a lot of these modern "Singers".

They don't need it and the labels aren't looking for it either.

If you're looking for "gospel influence", you might as well just listen to some gospel music.

I feel that. I think that’s a case of label politics, priorities budgets and brand managing. only so much artists you can focus on but at the end of the day music cuts the red tape.

These labels and gate keepers were recreating Big Macs and it got tiring, Prince was ahead of his time with the things he was doing and telling us but we ain’t pay attention.

As far as your second statement
Does art imitate life or does life imitate art ?
We have to step it up on both sides
Propaganda is what makes life imitate art.
Step up the life side with moral grounding and good education and the art will follow.
Working and volunteering with youth in and out of the system has proved that.
Those philosophical questions go unanswered for people trying to live hand to mouth if they not in church, school or a probation program.

Breh,

I don't care about what the "Labels Want".

I care about the QUALITY of the music Black Folks make.

A lot of these modern "Singers", CAN'T SING!

"Gospel Influence" Ain't the same thing as Gospel Music.

The Black Church has been a KEY component in developing the sound of MANY "Iconic" Singers.

And that Ain't up for "Debate".
