Couple of things

  • This isn't Spo's fault. Them cats dont get inspired til midway through the 3rd quarted sometimes and by then the opponent has all the confidence in the world.
  • BirdMan may be a keeper. Hes enough of a presence in the middle to make a difference. Not sure who else we drop to keep him tho. + he needs to get in shape.
  • Wade and Lebron are doing their part IMO. The other guys need to wake the fukk up.

Too many blackholes in the starting lineup is the major problem. On any given night LeBron is the only guy you know is going to show up out of that bunch, Wade more often than not too, but not always.

UD definitely needs to go to the bench in favor of Joel. Birdman I think his energy is best suited coming off the bench. UD is too much of a defensive liability and doesnt give you a much on offense. At this juncture he's better off the bench and used in a role like when he came back from that injury against the Bulls in the playoffs.

And Spoelstra needs to get creative at PG. I know Cole is a hot and cold shooter but atleast his defense is consistent, Chalmers cant keep his man in front of him and is always committing bonehead fouls or turnovers. If he's not making jumpers he's useless, wait thats 75% of the team isnt it

Numbers to ponder...

Home (18-3):
offense: 106.8ppg .507fg .404 3fg%
defense: 96.1ppg .438fg .334 3fg%
Wade: 22.4ppg 55% 78ft%
Allen: 13ppg 53% 53 3pt% 91ft%
FT: 24att .783%

Away (11-11):
offense: 98.2ppg .472% .368 3fg%
defense: 97.5ppg .438% .389 3fg%
Wade: 18.5ppg 46% 69ft%
Allen: 9.4ppg 40% 34 3fg% 81ft%
FT: 20att .727%

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MIA/2013/splits/#all_advanced

Basically, offense is where this team is losing games on the road. Two reasons why....
1. Wade & Ray have stunk away from home
2. the team is losing almost 5ppg from the free throw line alone. They're not getting calls and are bricking when they do....Bron, Wade and Rio are all shooting in the 60s

The defense is a lot better than people realize...especially the last month and half.

this is the only thing i agree with from last night. thats why i said that i would double on LeBron with Shane's man becuz he's not hitting that open 3 like he was last yr. and that rebounding is a serious issue. i still think they'll come out of the East but Chicago and Indy gone make these boys break a sweat. they have guys who get dirty and will rebound like shyt.

The thing with Battier is he didnt shoot the ball that well in the regular season last year, and really wasnt spectacular during the playoffs either. By some grace of glory he got hot at the right time on the biggest stage but thats kind of an anomaly.

For one, Mario has been solid since his slow start to the season and shot 44 percent from 3 in January. Udonis is pretty crappy right now though. But to think that Heat players suffer from an inconsistency that other teams don't on average seems fabricated.

If you watch Heat games more than any other team, it's natural to scrutinize them more. I suspect every single night there are a bunch of role players that 'don't show up'. LeBron being the best, obviously appears the most consistent.

As far as Spoelstra needing a creative point guard, it just seems like an empty complaint. I mean, the Heat have two excellent creators and already have an embarrassment of riches. When do we stop harping on needs with this team?

I just don't see the need to. Under the constraints of the salary cap the Heat are about as good as you could possibly be.

I'm not a fan of other teams so I'm not worried about what other teams do. My concern is the effort this team puts out on a night in night out basis.

And I didn't say Spo needs a creative PG I said he needs to GET creative, whether that means experimenting with Cole, or just throwing another shooter out there whether its Ray or Mike. Chalmers isnt a creator, he doesnt set up teammates, if his shots not going in or he's being exposed on defense you gotta try something else. You cant continue to play 2 on 5 offensively.

I think your trying to envision something that doesn't exist. You will never see this team be great in every facet of the game. Every team, so long as a salary cap is present, will have holes. The cost of affording the team's three all-stars means you will have average and below average role players. Every team in the league has players we can find a problem with and pick on.

If you have Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, it really, really, really doesn't matter that Mario Chalmers can't create, or that 75% of the team doesn't have these skills, as you say.

It's not two on five offensively. Take into account what other teams have in comparison to the Heat. It all evens out, and Miami ends up on top because of their embarrassment of riches at the top of the roster.

The Heat don't have many options at point guard. The stars won't want to do it very much. They just won a title with the same rotation, and they'll be back in the Finals, so this concern should be miniscule at best.

Also, what other teams do has everything to do with Miami. Your team is not going to have 15 individuals who are completely different than the average player because of the jersey they wear. Players have lapses. Their human. Your team is still great. It's nitpicking.

I'm just adding my opinion if you dont agree thats fine

I don't care that we lose games, but its how these dudes lose em. If they don't have it going that night, they get blowed the fukk out. They can't even compete if they're not clicking. I still think they will be good when the offs come, but damn.
