Veteran power forward Kenyon Martin remains unsigned and to no surprise he would like to receive a contract offer from the best team in the NBA.
Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel writes: "For what it's worth, a source said during Monday's game that the Miami Heat have moved to top of Martin's wish list. Yes, he would help."
Martin is willing to accept the pro-rated veteran minimum and that's all the Heat can offer. Miami currently has a full 15-man roster, so someone would have to be traded or waived to make room for Martin. Josh Harrellson and James Jones seem to be the likeliest candidates to lose their spots on the roster.
Harrellson is signed to a non-guaranteed one-year minimum contract, while Jones is signed through 2013-14, which is a player option for $1,500,000.
