$20 bucks does sound high but even if you go to the movies solo:

Shower up
Get dressed
Burn gas on the way to the theater
$14-17 dollar ticket
Popcorn, soda, candy
Drive home(maybe get something else to eat/drink before home)

-that's easily a $40 dollar or more night in itself.. Even more if you with a date, fam, or friends

If the film is not shot in IMAX or audio is not mixed for IMAX, you are just getting a blown up picture on the screen and stereo audio out on the speakers that are not being in usage. I get what you saying but IMAX format is expensive as fukk to film in.

Disney, Nolan, etc. movies all film in IMAX and that's the only way I wanna see 'em until the 4K drops

Part of the entire reason why I like going to movies is that I am NOT at home on the couch, and can immerse myself more in the movie, disconnect a little in the darkess, plus the trip and ride home itself. Way prefer that than watching at home. I like to be able to do both.

Theatres should be seasonal. Have then open during the summer when its hot and block buster movies hit.
