Yeah man. I'm Ghanaian and as much as it hurts to say, we did not take care of business. Lost early matches. Dropped points at home and performed terribly when the pressure was on. Cote d'ivorie, similarly, did not get a result at HOME on the last match day which allowed morocco to qualify. DRC allowed Tunisia to come back at HOME when qualification was in the bag. Us, black Africans, have no one to blame but ourselves for the mahgreb representing us on the world stage. Irks my soul because they don't even see themselves as "african" and have always operated with a superioriy complex. It is even worse considering the squads I listed, have enormous amounts of quality, top Europeans players with guys like Thomas partey, baba rahman, serge aurier, yannick bolasie, cedric bakumbu, wilifried zaha, Franck kessie, etc. When u look at the north Africans, mehdi benatia, salah and elneny are really the only top European players. Absurd and inconcievable how it went down but sub saharan african federations need to retool and grass root youth football investment. Sorry for the long post, passionate subject for me lol.
