The only logical reason why Giroud is playing is the FFF wanna get some white players on the team. He has been utterly useless so far.

Deschamps played his career has a DM and as a coach he has the mentality of a DM which means defense first. Giroud is the first defender of the team, he presses and tracks down. He's the target man on counters and is good at holding the ball and linking up as pivot when we launching long balls because we are playing very deep. That said, he has been utter trash at finishing and should have had at least 2 goals imo.
