but in retrospect, they were doing well in the first half. I think either they tired out or they simply lost the momentum once Croatia possibly started controlling the game. To be me, until the 60', I couldn't see how Croatia could have won this as they were also making some horrendous passing ans crossing mistakes

This indeed plays a part I totally agree but that also means that Brazil did have massive changes to tie the game and win it. And if you watched the match, it was clear that if Brazil tied the game, Belgium would have lost 100% either within the 90' or in extra time. After the 60', they were on the ropes with no momentum, trying to stay alive. Brazil should have won that game but they lost, that happens.
You forget how Belgium was running rings around Brazil that led to them being 2 up, they put on a text book 2-0 victory with a late goal conceded but where never really under the kosh. How many times did Belgiums midfield just let them run into blind alleys and Hazard carrying the ball to relieve pressure.
