Whether I think it is right or wrong is irrelevant, I am just making observations of the place off of one day...

Of course xenophobia is terrible... But I am coming from a place of ignorance because I don't really have a great understanding of the many layers of socioeconomic issues that go into this topic, as relates to Spain... The business owners know I am a tourist, and that is good for their shytty economy.... The women give me attention mostly based off look because they know I am not from around here and when I open my mouth it is amazing how differently you get treated when they know you are American.

I checked out the Thyssn museum today, saw a Rothko, and Picasso, and a few Dali's..

...orrrr how about you carry them in a front pocket or an inside jacket pocket that zips. I was told the same crapwhen heading to Europe about what not to carry around, but I used common sense. Why walk around ID-less? The smartest thing to do is to walk around backpack less. The backpack is an easy way to spot a victim/tourist.

I know you're going to be in Barcelona soon. Hop on the train to France towards Montpelier only 4 hours away I believe. Hop out and be ready to be amazed at the most beautiful women you will ever lay your eyes on. Walking around like gracefully like Griraffes and gazelles. You owe it to yourself. They smoke like crazy though, Spanish smokers have nothing on them.
