Haven't seen Oz

Game of Thrones is #1 for me because of how good the visuals are and how rewatchable it is (Sopranos is also very rewatchable). Though it was an intelligent show The Wire could be pretentious and think it was smarter than it was at times, and was so manipulative with its symbolism and double entendres in conversations. Season 1 of The Wire is better than any season of anything else on the list though.

Haven't seen all seasons of Sopranos, just the three last seasons and a couple of episodes here and there. Only seen first season of Deadwood maybe i'll get back to that one someday. I stopped watching Boardwalk in the middle of season three...

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Boardwalk Empire
Mad Men
The Sopranos
Rome
honorable mention: Band Of Brothers/The Pacific (i know they're stand alone mini series but they always come to mind, some of the best TV i ever seen)

I think by next season game of thrones might go over breaking bad for me but that also depends on how great these last 8 episodes of BB are. I love the GoT series, and i think if it was lets say 13 episodes a season and they was able to stick with a lot more things with the books..it would easily be number 1. I say this as a book reader tho of course..without a doubt the show is EPIC tho.

tune in tonight :youngsabo:

Be honest. Yall nikkas tellin me that u didn't think The Wire have a WHOLE BUNCH of boring episodes?

I thought the entire second season was more boring than not and that last half or so of season 5 was just about the same. However seasons 1, 3 and 4 were so good that they make up for it.

Game of Thrones is overrated as hell. Too many characters, barely any plot development, little screen time for each plot, each episode is like bunch of recaps put together.

The Wire is the best serious drama that can avoid network rules. It had great characters, was realistic and had a very strong social messages.
I'll give Oz and Sopranos props for being the OGs in the genre but all as far as quality all these shows besides Dexter which is not on the others level IMO all come down to subject matter preferences. They all have pros and cons that it is just splitting hairs after awhile. But here's my order after The Wire anyway, even though I really like all these shows and wouldn't argue with anyone who said one is better than the other.

Sopranos
Oz
Boardwalk
Breaking Bad
Homeland
Rome
Game of Thrones
Boss

I love the genre, there is really no reason to watch dramas on network TV because the quality on cable is so much better.
