I feel that there was racism but not in the way you described.

6 years ago, Jada called the Oscars out on their racism. They got Chris Rock to the host the awards and undermine Jada. Regardless of whether you think Jada was correct in their criticism, they hired Chris Rock to do a job. For obvious reasons, they couldn't get a white guy to ridicule her acts so they paid a brother to do it so they wouldn't come across as racist.

Chris Rock wasn't even hosting the event this year but they some how got him to do the introduction for Will's category. Okay.

In my mind, it seems like retaliation. Will got his Oscar, but they wanted to send some kind of message to him by spoiling his big moment. He should have risen above it, but I can understand why he didn't.

As for Chris Rock, disappointed isn't the word I'd use because I don't have expectations of him, but it is the best word I can think of at the moment. I feel that he should have stayed on code.
