Anyone that grew up in the hood or "ruff" areas, should know how to take a joke especially from a class clown or in the case someone who's job it is to tell jokes. On top of that, unless you talking about attacking someone or what you'll do aint no body really shooting at you from cracking jokes, but get antsy and think you gonna walk up on someone and puts hands on them is a QUICK way to get popped.

But Will knew that and was ready to accept whatever lil penalties he was gonna get. He knew Chris wasn't gonna fight back and he knew he probably wasn't gonna sue or press charges so he made a sucker move

This is literally the social contract you enter as soon as you become a member in the audience of a comedy show. Do comedians need to run their material by will any time a joke is made now?
