The narration by Jim Carrey is crucial IMO. He and Weeknd have that Canadian connection, plus in recent years….Jim Carrey is a man full of zen like wisdom, quotable. Google search his quotes. I’m anticipating that whatever time he speaks on this project, it’s gonna be good and add to the project.

Reminds me of what 21 Savage/Metro did for their album with the Morgan Freeman narration.

Man I just can't fukk with the Weeknd like that like I use to I remember when the first mixtape came out in 2011 and this chick started playing the morning I was like he was my niqqa the first three mixtapes (house of balloons, Thursday, Echos of silence) after that he fell off it was a couple of decent tracks on kissland and BBTM but nothing like the first 3 mixtapes

he’s been doing random features his whole career (after he blew up)

Given how deliberate he is about aesthetics and sounds with each project, I wonder if he's going to move on from the synth/dream pop stuff. It's probably been the most successful stuff he's done and every feature and loosie since the album has been in that vein but man...it's time to move on.

I give him a lot of credit tho. Released an album during the pandemic, delayed his tour twice, and his shyt was so popular he could tour the album this year with ease. But I'd imagine any artist would be tired of donning the same look for going on two years. Dropping new shyt right before his upcoming big tour makes sense.

That's the power of having a distinct singing voice and your own brand of music

Do you think his recent stuff sounds too commercial/radio ish? It's weird because I still enjoy it.

Starboy is the only album that felt "bland" if you will. It's still catchy though.
