I wouldn't say its c00nish at all. It's silly and over the top like a lot of comedies staring white people. Marlon and Shawn do a lot of slapstick and very broad humor. The first season is a lot more subdued than the rest but there has to be room for black comedians to be silly and endulge in their silliness just like white comedians do without us accusing them of doing a minstrel show.

Not every show can be a different world or even wants to be. We all have different senses of humor and should be allowed to express what makes us laugh

I agree.
But if this was a modern show as opposed to something from the 90s I think the tone of this thread would be a lot different :sas1:

I agree, imagine the show "workaholics" and replace the white actors with black ones. That show would be labeled a c00n fest.

Word. I love Lucy is one of the greatest comedies of all time. Put a black woman in that role and cats would be calling for her head.

Well that's a problem then. We can't be so quick to label everything a minstrel show when not everything is. Some shyt is just silly and immature. I find the three stooges just as funny as arrested development or 30 Rock. One is considered low brow and the other has a mixture of different comedies. By saying that as a black man I can only participate in one type of comedy or else the black police will string me up by my nikes, that's doing more harm than help

Under the slapstick humor there were themes of family, unity, black pride, sibling love, brotherhood and over coming adversity. Shawn went from being a UPS driver to owning his own thriving business with plans to expand at the end of the series. Marlon started off like a lost child but his brother gave him a job which gave him focus to find out his calling was acting and he was in several plays. Pops had a thriving business with his diner and showed his boys a positive black father figure. Yea some of the jokes were silly but none of them were criminals or failures. I dunno how that's c00nery to be honest
